Just a few words from a master carpenter....
This is a saw of convenience. It is not intended to cut 7-1/4" crown nested against the fence. (I personally do not know any true "carpenters" that nest their crown, you cut it FLAT you posers!)
This saw is intended for the small job. The job you have where you dread pulling the big saw off the trailer and setting it up. The punch out saw where you can work in a confined area with minimal tools and make minimal dust. Perfect for shoe mold (with a soft fence attached of course) and tie ins.
The one star review given by a "contractor " is foolish. It is nice having a saw bevel both left and right so you can be comfortable with what you can't accomplish otherwise due to a complete lack of carpentry basics, but you can cut a 38, 42, 45, or 48 degree crown laying flat and never touch your dedents again! Oh, but you would have know something about carpentry to figure that one out,,, guess that's why I can charge $80 an hour and you work from the back of your truck. You move the material, NOT THE SAW!!!
This saw is the perfect saw for cutting casing. The blade is small therefore there is zero blade deflection. The joints align perfectly EVERY TIME! The shadow trace line is great. Just like all of my big saws with this option, it tends to take an extra 1/32" beyond the line. lasers are always inaccurate and they always look blurry. Thank you Dewalt, for making something we can appreciate!
As far as throat plates are concerned... The factory throat plates are but a suggestion. Discard those as we have discarded the 1star reviewers opinion on this saw.
On another note.. You make your own zero clearance throat plates. Take pride in your craft!Read more ›
