I purchased this because my wife's pc crashed and was replaced. Her new machine does not have IDE interfaces so I needed a way to read her data from her old hard disk. This enclosure was easy to use. It is well built and solved ny problem easily. A week later my computer's OS was corrupted. I was time constrained and so I removed the hard disk and took advantage of this device again. This time it was a SATA drive. I was able torecover my files easily and have them backed up so that when I recover my OS, my documents will be retained. In the past I would have had to open up another PC and install the drive to be recovered. Now this can be done with much less effort. This device has turned out to be a very useful tool. It has already paid for itself in recovering what otherwise would have been lost time and resources. The ability to work with both the older IDE (ATA) drives and the newer SATA drives makes this very useful. This device will live in my toolbox until I need it again. I can think of so many times I could have used this in the past. It is fast, convenient and easy to use.

Excellent quality. Very reasonable price. I was delighted to find the internal drive tray to be an perfect fit to the drive and the enclosure. The cable connectors and fasteners for the drive are very well made. The fit and finish of the enclosure is excellent. The aluminum enclosure transfers heat from the drive well and gets only warm, not hot. Can't go wrong on this enclosure.

I purchased this external hard drive case to save my data from a dead computer. Removed old hard drive and used the easy instructions to mount it into the case and then was able to transfer all my data to my new computer hard drive. Easy to use and great to have as a spare hard drive

This product works just as intended. I used this to turn my 1TB internal drive into an external drive and couldn't be happier with the results. Assembly is quick and easy, though may take some trial and error as the power and SATA cords seemed to be reversed from where the ports are on my drive.

That said, the case itself could be better quality. It has a small scratch and a bit of peeling on the back, which isn't a problem but seems odd. One of the screw holes seems to be too big for the screw, but it isn't required. The other screw keeps the case closed just fine.

When my PC crashed a few weelks ago I discovered that I hadn't backed up many documents, pictures and music files. Oh, whoe is me! Got a new PC and then Googled the web to see the best way to recover the lost data. One of the recommendations was to get an external hard drive case and mount the old hard drive in it to see if you can see it on the new PC. Settled on the Connectland mostly because I only expected to use it one time, it was a very good price and the reviews were very good. My experience was extremely positive. This unit is very well made with an aluminum case, came with all the cables you need, all the hardware and even a screwdriver . I needed an IDE interface and this has it as well as a SATA interface. Everything went perfectly. I plugged the IDE ribbon into the hardrive then into the unit, then connected the power cable , mounted the hardrive into the case, put in the screws. The interface to the new PC is actually USB so no problem. Connected it and powered up and it immediately installed the drivers. This thing worked perfectly. I was able to recover all my files. I plan to keep it now as a backup. You can't wrong with this.

I needed to move a drive from an old desktop PC w/XP to a new Windows 7 PC that didn't have space for a second drive. This had all the pieces/parts to make it work for my SATA drive, and access across USB to the drive was very good, better than the old XP box did with it as an internal drive.

One caution is that the directions noted that large drives could overheat in the case if used for a long time. The case is not vented. My drive was large, but I only use it now for short periods of times to do backups; it's mostly powered down.

I bought this to recover data off of an old pc whose power supply had failed. The fact that it supports both IDE and SATA connections means that I can use it recover that data off of the old out dated disk and then use it as an enclosure for a newer disk. Assembly was easy and I had absolutely no trouble. It's great when things work like they are supposed to!

The enclosure for the cost of it was almost perfect. It's light weight, and will work with both SATA and with older IDE drives. Everything is simple to install and I was up and running in just about no time at all. My one issue with it is that the wiring connecting the drive to power and the inside board is extremely limited. The wires have to be bent and folded to fit inside with the drive, but like I said earlier for the cost, it does the job nicely
