Great support but too uncomfortable to keep

I have problems with weak ankles, frequently turning/spraining them when hiking. I was looking for some hiking boots with great ankle support to avoid having to wear ankle braces. Although I have another favorite brand of shoes, I had heard great things about the Salomon brand and thought I would give them a try since they had a full, high boot. I ordered my normal shoe size since most reviews said they fit to size.

They were plenty long enough and initially comfortable, but after wearing them around the house for a while, I discovered they were too tight around my feet. Also, where the toe of the boot breaks at the lowest lace, it would dig into and rub the top of my big toe and hurt. And when the upper boot laces were tightened enough to provide the support I need, the tops of the boots bruised a ring around my upper ankles. I returned the boots and will look for something more comfortable.
