I replace my Tunze pump with this. This is super quite. My Vortex MP10W is louder than it. Also it is a powerful pump for my new Red Sea Reefer 170 tank. 80% power is already more than enough.
Note that DC pump is different from AC pump. DC pump will slowly ramp up to the speed. I like it as it will not all of a sudden pushing too much water into the tank after each water change.
Now I will see how long this will last. My Tunze lasted my three years and it is still running but costed me $180 and with less power and much much noisier. Time will tell. Will update this after 6 months of use.
Update for 3/26/2016:
Stop working in 6 months. That was what I thought. Happened at mid-night...I quickly pull out by old Tunze and replaced it to keep the tank circulated. Frustrated and disappointed of another unreliable made in China product!
Update on 3/27/2016:
As I am putting away the Jebao, I found the old manual that came with the pump. Then I noticed that the control panel provided an error code based on how it is lit. Then I found out that my impeller were stuck due to heavy calcification! after a vinegar dip an a through cleaning, it is running again!
So I have to give this a five stars again! a simple pump with exceptional value and performance. You do not need the Vortech DC pump for any wifi capabilities, you just need this one as it is also very quiet.
