I have 3 dogs. They all have had their share of ears infections that always made for a trip to the vet at the cost of $95 plus the cost of $28 for an anti-biotic ointment for the ear. My one dog is a Coon Hound/Lab mix and had to actually have an $800 operation on his ear because the infection in his ear would not clear up. Even though we do all the ear maintenance as prescribed to prevent ear infections, this dog usually has at least 6 ear infections per year and the vet costs for each infection. We are not wealthy people. I bought Zymox Otic with 1% hydrocortisone for the first time in October because it looked like the one dog was going to need the other ear operated on and we did not have the money. I cannot tell you that I was totally shocked when his ear cleared up within 2 days using Zymox. I know my vet would never use Zymox or recommend it because he would probably go bankrupt. He used to be a great vet who really cared but them he stopped caring and started looking at his practice as a business so I know he would find something negative to say. There were absolutely no side effects from Zymox I am so happy that I found this stuff. Try it if your dog has any problems with ear infections. You will be pleasantly surprised.

We have a large Leonberger dog which basically looks like a 160 pound Golden Retriever. He had terrible ear infections ever since he was a puppy and we were continuously going to the vet and spending up to $300 per visit for heavy duty antibiotics and ear drops. His ears would get a little better but the infection would always return worse than before. Our dog hated "pill pockets" so we had to wrestle him to get him to take his meds and he would run whenever he saw the ear drops bottle in our hands.

Exasperated with the continual pain our dog was in, we paid over $600 for Baytril pills and Baytril Otic. It was very expensive as our dog is huge and it required multiple bottles and pills because each dose was so large. Our vet told us this was the last chance of a cure before surgery would be required.

His ears cleared up a little bit but at the end of the round of antibiotics his ears were still red, scaly, inflamed and smelly.

We went ahead and took him back in and the vet recommended surgery.

In frustration I started surfing the net and found a review for Zymox. It sounded too good to be true but I figured we had nothing to lose. The Zymox was so cheap and I verified that the guy recommending it was a real vet.

The package arrived from Amazon. The Zymox looked a little like liquid soap and I started applying it every morning to his ears. I immediately noticed that the next day his ears looked less inflamed and did not smell. I took this as a good sign and kept treating the ears every morning. At the end of the week his ears were completely healthy and he was so much happier. I couldn't believe we had spent thousands of dollars trying to cure his ear infections and that a $10 bottle of Zymox had cleared it up in a week!Read more ›

I am on day 9 of my dog's ear treatment.

I am thrilled to have my old dog back!

After day two or three, our 8-year-old yellow lab-mix dog was back to her old self. She's had chronic ear infections since she was about a year old. We've tried so many drugs and treatments for her, but none worked longer than a week or so after the treatment was over. When the infection returned, we had to go back for more drugs from the vet. the over the counter ear cleaners didn't help.

The antibiotics were hard on her system, the steroids turned her into a zombie and were hard on her system, the ear cleaners were usually pretty foul-smelling and would irritate her already irritated ears-plus they didn't work very well.

And ALL THE ABOVE INEFFECTIVE TREATMENTS/DRUGS WERE EXPENSIVE!

We tried Zymox after reading reviews on the internet, and I'm very pleased so far. Zymox is made from 3 natural antimicrobial (antifungal, antiviral, antibacterial) enzymes. Microbes don't build up resistance to these enzymes like they do with antibiotic and antifungal drugs.

I would buy at least 2 containers, because one container will only last about a week of daily use, and treating active infections take's a daily dose for a week (or two weeks for a chronic ear problem).

You can't use any other treatment in the dog's/cat's ears when you use this as the other treatment may counter the enzymes in Zymox. Maybe that would account for some folks not having success with this product?

I highly recommend Zymox! I'd also recommend you get the Zymox with hydrocortisine, to help keep your pets ears from itching while they're healing.

I have a black lab, Doodle that has been plaqued with allgery problems for 6 long years, I have tried everything changing to organic food, pills, shots, medication the vets prescribed, yogurt, olive oil, daily baths, you name it I have tried everything I could find on the internet all with no help for her. I was reading on line to try to find a different solution for her problem to try and found a review on this product. The persons review that I read sounded just like my Doodles problems (her owner also tried all the same remedies as I did with no help) she tried this product and she said within 3 days she saw a hugh difference it had made for her dog, right then I decided if it helped her dog I would give it a try, I never thought something you could put in ears would make that big of a difference but I was out of ideas. I ordered it and arrived in 3 days started once a day putting it in her ears, I am so glad I did within a week my Doodlebug was a completely different dog, her ear gook was gone, the stink was gone!!( you could not stand to be around her the smell was awful), she would itch 100% of the time,she lost most of her hair, now which is growing back still peach fuzz but its more than she has had in 5 years, her eyes brightened, she is no longer the crotchely old lady we had changed her name to (poor girl she had to have been miserable). What a hugh difference in one week---she has now been on this since Oct 1, faithfully everyday for 30 days I put it in her ears---I have a normal dog now without ear problems. If you tried everything as I did, try this you will not be dissapointed!!
