I’ve been using Zepp Baseball now for about 3 months with both my iPad & iPhone. Setup was simple enough and I was up and running in just a few minutes. If you’ve ever paired a headphone or bluetooth speaker you can easily set this up. One cool thing to note is that even though I bought the “baseball” package this same device works for either golf or tennis..you just have to download a different app and buy a separate adapter. The feedback is amazing. Not only does it give you lots of raw data but when paired with the 3d visual of your swing it really helps my son visualize what he needs to work on. When I say “you’ve got a hitch in your swing”, he can visually see it...plus he can see things like how it effects his bat speed, swing plane, impact angle etc. You can star or favorite some of your best swings and then use that to compare side by side with other swings. Another cool feature is the ability to setup different bats. My son has a game day bat plus a wood bat that he trains with. They are both different sizes and weights. Its interesting to see the difference in swing speed between the two. I wish I would of had this device a long time ago to help pick out the right bat for him. The data combined with visuals will help you pick the perfect bat. Of course the old eye ball test works for that too, but this backs up what you’re seeing with hard data. One thing I would like to see is the ability to change from a righty swing to a lefty swing similar to how you pick/change your bats. My son is trying to be a switch hitter and currently the only way to switch is to go into your profile and change it…not a big deal and most people probably don’t have to worry about this though. All in all, I’m very pleased with this device. I think even the most novice of users can really benefit from using this. I wouldn’t be surprised to see every hitting coach start to use this too.

This is a straight-up revolutionary product! Zepp was an early Father's Day present from my baseball family and I am loving this thing!!!

Some background: My spouse and I are both former student athletes (HS baseball and softball players) and have coached our two boys for the past 8 years in spring and summer all-star ball. We have been very successful with our young teams because we focus on skills development -- we actually believe in teaching technique. Hitting has always been a point of huge time investment but equally huge return on investment. We've been preaching non-kinetic (stance) and kinetic fundamentals (load, separation, kinetic chain, bat plane, etc) for years -- always repeating the same things over and over. The great thing about 9-12 year olds is they are open to coaching; the bad thing is sometimes they have a hard time seeing the mistakes that we see and adjusting to coaching.

Zepp changes ALL of that -- players (and coaches) can now see exactly what they are doing -- good and bad -- and where they can make improvements.

First, it's simple. Just a new knob on the end of a bat but otherwise practice was the same. My 11U all-stars had no idea that during scrimmage I was capturing their swing data. It was essentially transparent. I was able to create my player roster in the app and then just select the player as they went to the plate -- this was a huge reason I wanted Zepp over some of the other emerging competitors (also the analytics are better). Each swing by each player, a beep, and I had the data I wanted. Next player! Of course now they are keen to it and are asking me about their numbers!

Second, the data is amazing!

Myself and another coach on our team each bought a Zepp with the hope of using it to help our players. We have been very disappointed. The biggest problem: there is NO SUPPORT and NO INSTRUCTIONS on the website or even within the product packaging. They do have someone you can chat with on-line in a tiny little window locked to the bottom of your screen... hardly ideal for communicating.
Also, the first thing i have seen in their comments here on Amazon and when chatting (in the tiny window) is that they initially try to blame everything on the battery charge of the sensor, Bluetooth connectivity or both. I can tell you ours have been fully charged prior to trying to use them.

I do have some experience with positioning technology and I do think this product could work. But to be accurate we need to know what parameters effect accuracy. Or better yet, give us some instructions and what can effect accuracy. I would guess that the app (your phone or tablet) has to be calibrated at an ideal distance away from the player and held in that exact position for the swing to get accurate results. I guess we will have to wait on Zepp to give us some instructions...

By the way, Zepp, if you are responding to this review. Please don't indicate that your help pop-ups in the app itself are instructions. They are more like little clues to help you navigate through the app.

My son has taken several hundred swings with the sensor since we bought it a few weeks ago. I believe the picture and data provided by the sensor to be very close to his actual swing. It's an amazing sensor and can be very helpful for those who know what they are doing. My son has something other than my words to see what he is doing well and wrong. It has already helped him.

However, the app itself is a bit clunky. I haven't figured out how to go to previous swings without going all the way back to swing history and dealing with a calendar style interface. I like the calendar idea to look back at your history but the latest swings should be available without going back those several steps. I would also love to be able to see the swing on a TV or my 24 inch computer monitor. My phone can be a bit small with older eyes trying to view it. The iPad makes it easier to see but I'm not one who enjoys taking his iPad to a field or batting cage. Afraid of loss, theft or dropping it. But viewing it on the iPad after coming home helps, but I would love to have the immediate impact at the field or cage. All in all I think this is a great device and would love to see it integrated with video similar to Coaches Eye. I hope they keep improving the product.

I think a community type forum might be helpful as well.

Thank you for your feedback! Good suggestions regarding video and a community forum. We've got some exciting updates in line for the coming months so stay tuned for new features.

To review swing history on the swing screen swipe to the left or right across the area where the swing score is presented. This will allow you to view history of recent swings without having to go into the calendar. Also, there are a couple options for viewing on a bigger screen. The Reflector app ($12.99) allows you to mirror your iOS device onto a computer monitor. Apple TV ($99) is another option. With Apple TV hooked up to your TV you can mirror from the couch and get the big screen view you're looking for. This is also a popular route hitting academies with indoor cages are taking. Mounting a TV onto the wall or using portable TV stand enables players and coaches to get that instant feedback on a nice big screen.

If you have any additional questions or feedback don't hesitate to contact us!
