The grinding mechanism on our 20 year old salt/pepper shaker had been in terminal decline for a while. Selected this set due to the clean, simple visual appearance, and preponderance of positive reviews. We love the set. Great at grinding, and love the ease with which I can change the level of grind from fine to coarse. Also, it's a very attractive looking set - what you see in the online picture is exactly what you get - nice clean lines. Reasonable price point for what you are getting.

The only negative, which has been pointed out by other reviewers, it that the top (excluding the ceramic grinding mechanism), it clad in stainless steel, but the inside sections leading to and from the grinding mechanism are plastic. However, unless you are storing ground spice in the top compartment, the spice will have virtually no contact with the plastic.

When washing, will need to open up the grinder to its max coarse setting. When initially washing, I opened it up about halfway and could see daylight through the grinding mechanism, but after drying for most of a day, I could hear liquid sloshing around inside both grinders. When placed on either end, no liquid was coming out. Once I opened the grinders up all the way, a decent amount of liquid came out. After being left for another half day, no sloshing sounds were heard.

My new Stainless Steel Salt and Pepper Grinder Mill Pair are as functional as they are stylishly modern. Each mill is comprised of a clear glass base with a brushed stainless steel top which houses a ceramic grinder. The mills come apart in the center of the by unscrewing the top stainless steel grinder portion from the bottom glass portion. The mouth of the glass jar part is very wide, allowing for easy filling with coarse salt or peppercorns, as well as easier access for cleaning. The included stand increases the beauty and functionality of this pair of mills. The stand not only keeps the pair together as a tidy set, but helps to make them easily portable, as well.

To use, simply turn the unit upside down. With the glass bottom on top, grip the stainless steel portion and turn the glass portion. This action will dispense the ground product. By adjusting the knob in the center of the grinder, you can control how coarse or how fine the salt or pepper being dispensed will be.

These high-quality, well-made Salt and Pepper Grinder Mills should provide me with many years of service. I am very satisfied with both the look and the performance of these mills. I received this product for a promotional discounted price in exchange for this review. All statements made in this review in regard to this product, represent my own genuine and honest opinions.

Update 01/19/2016 - The company has updated the product and changed the name to Willow & Everett. They have sent me the new product so I can evaluate it and update my review with my thoughts on the revised product. The grinders seem to have remained unchanged, which is good because I like them just as they are and I cannot imagine how they could be better. What is new is the addition of the matching stainless steel rack which is made for holding the grinders when not in use. The rack adds an additional touch of class to this set, and as an added bonus, it has a little handle to make them easy to carry. The set is as good as it was before, and now even a little better.

This salt and pepper grinder set by Willow & Everett has a stylish modern look that looks great in any kitchen. The grinders are made up of nice looking brushed stainless steel on top and heavy duty glass containers on the bottom.

The containers are nice and large and hold a lot of your favorite spices for grinding, eliminating the need for frequent refilling. The grinders both have brushed stainless steel lids to keep debris from entering the grinding mechanism when they are not in use.

The grinding mechanisms are ceramic so they should last for years. The coarseness of the grind can be adjusted from very fine to coarse simply by turning a knob. You can use whatever types of grind-able spices you want in this, I have chosen to use black peppercorns and sea salt in mine. This is really a great set of grinders and they look very nice in any decor.

These grinders work well for pepper and salt. Adjusting the grinder will vary the coarseness of pepper, but salt cannot be finely ground (a fault I find with all salt grinders, primarily because salt is hygroscopic - will some inventor please find a way to add a dessicator to salt grinders?). The key to getting a good-quantity output, especially for salt, is to grind in one direction only (not forwards/backwards). Functionally, the receptacles are large enough to fill without the use of a funnel and without need of frequent refilling, which is very convenient; and the top-sided grinders avoid the annoying counter-top spillage of standard grinders. However, the aesthetic design and quality of materials are only acceptable: a longer glass-to-steel ratio would improve the design, the steel is flimsy, the grinding mechanism is more plastic than ceramic, and the quality of the glass is very low. For routine kitchen use, however, functionality trumps design.
