Soothing medicated zinc based talc powder which I noticed contains several ingredients found in antiseptic mouthwash – eucalyptol, menthyl salicylate and thymold. A chemist could probably explain why this is, but I assume it has to do with the antiseptic properties.

What I do know is this powder is soothing and cooling for a range of skin irritations that cause discomfort and itch including sun burn and insect bites. It is particularly good keeping areas of the body dry -- the ones usually covered in clothing where moisture becomes trapped.

The shaker says it may be used up to three or four times a day although I find after a shower to be most convenient. An indication of the product’s efficacy, it has been around for over a century. I tolerate the medicinal smell because this powder genuinely helps.

Gold Bond Medicated Powder must have been invented for people like me. Living in a warm climate there are numerous times that I have gotten damp and chafed somewhere. Gold Bond is the only thing that heals and prevents that. I can count on it to do it's job every time I use it. If the humidity is high and you wear the wrong thing you better have some Gold Bond. This product contains zinc and menthol for cooling and itching relief.

Works fine. Should have realized since it says medicated that it could have an odor. It smells like menthol. Bothers me and does not bother my husband.
