Style Name: Main Console Verified Purchase
The VTech CM18445 platform is a decent multi-extension, multi-line system for anyone looking for a wireless deployment. I am using it for a larger home where I need several lines for personal and business use but this would also be very well suited for a home business, a small medical or practice, a small real estate office, or anywhere else where 5-10 extensions are needed with basic functionality. It lacks the capabilities of a hosted voip platform like a ShoreTel Sky or a FreedomVoice but it also doesn't require an IT person to deploy. (Disclaimer: I am an IT person).

Pro's: easy to setup, easy to configure (you will need the manual),
Opportunities for improvement: voicemail to email, longer call recording, wireless extenders, ability to centrally manage & configure the system (directories, speed dials, call patterns, etc - pretty much everything must be programmed on an extension to extension basis).

I have just tried out this phone along with a few cordless extension sets. Overall, I think that it's a good system that has a lot of solid features compared to the competition.

Biggest shortcoming is that you can't call back someone who leaves a voicemail or write down their number with caller ID because only the name, but not the full phone number, is displayed.

Pro's:
-one of the few affordable, 4-line phone system with cordless extensions
-Looks sleek and pleasing to the eye
-Good call quality

Con's:
-Caller ID in voicemail is poorly though out. It only displays the name but omits the phone numbers. There is no obvious way to call back this person or write down their phone number if they didn't leave their phone number. Only way is to scroll through the messages, then exit the mailbox, and go to the directory, and scroll back to the same name to get phone number. On my previous ATT 2-line phone, it was possible to find out number of caller who left message and to directly call them back from the voicemail menu.

-On Main console, the earpiece is poorly designed. The material feels like a cheap piece of sandpaper that transmits/amplify sound from the hand holding the earpiece/handset. Sounds like someone sliding their fingers across your ear or a drum.They should have made the material a smooth plastic to minimize transmission of sound from your hand/fingers.

-Sometimes it's not obvious which lines are being used. There with be small "L1", "L2", etc at the top in black. It would be better if the LED light in Line 1, Line 2 button was on .

I bought this system because VTECh makes good phones. Right away we had problems. Auto Attendant would switch to nighttime announcement in the middle of the day and say our "business was closed". The console would lock up often. I contacted VTECH and they went thru the usual troubleshooting. They then sent me a new console that had the same problem. Finally they said they were able to reproduce the problem in their tech area. They told me to please be patient and that they were working on a software fix. After a couple of weeks they sent me a new console with beta software to test, but it was too late. I bought the ATT SynJ system which works great. I returned the VTECH system to the store, and the beta console to VTECH. Wait until they get it all fixed and reprogrammed. This was before it became available on Amazon.

I would give it five stars except for the intercom button is where the off button should be. Otherwise seamlessly integrated with this system. Not such a bad phone system. We have all three components now. And they all work well together

I love this phone system! I purchased three pieces, and will be ordering a couple more cordless phones and a couple more corded extensions. This phone works wonderful out of the box! It also has all of the features I want without having to pay the huge prices! For a multi line phone system, you can't beat the price!

Great system, two things I didn't like you can't record a greeting or the voicemail threw an AUX cord to my computer you can only record the on hold music via AUX to the computer. So basically the rocordings don't sound as clear.

This is a great business phone system for a small business! This phone has so many features I can barely use them all. My favorite part about this phone is that you can have your own call waiting music! Other than that there are many other very useful features like autoattendant, multi-line, separate mailboxes for your extensions. The features goes on and on. The clarity is great as well. Everything comes in crystal clear! I would definitely recommend this phone system!

I ordered one base unit and 3 accessory handsets. the base unit is clear as a bell but all three accessory handsets have a noticeable static sound in the background. our phones are about 30 feet away form the base unit and nothing we've tried produces any better result. Even with the static it is tolerable just would be nice if the handsets where clear with no back round static. Another not so good feature when an incoming phone call is ringing all 3 phones you cant press any other button on any of the phone except to answer the incoming call so if your on another line and want to hang up your call you cant until the line is answered by someone else or the call goes to voicmail
