I got this router around a week ago and I cannot say enough good things about it! The short story on it is it's inexpensive (relatively), extremely easy to set up, the interface is quick and painless, firmware updates are effortless, and the range is jaw dropping. I normally hate wifi, and after having used 2.4Ghz 802.11n for the past 3 years and getting used to about a 1000 sqft range, I figured that was all one base station could do... boy was I wrong!

This TP-Link C9 has changed my whole network. I was previously using a Motorola SBG 6580 wireless gateway (see photo) but now I am using this. I have around 5,000 sqft of range now in 2.4Ghz and perhaps 3,500 sqft of useful range at 5Ghz. I have no issues picking up solid wifi in the road on the opposite end of my home. The bandwidth is phenomenal at 80-90Mbit from anywhere in the house now. My previous dead-spots (like the master bedroom) where I could only get around -70dB of signal are now -55dB or stronger (5x greater signal strength).

If you name your networks the same SSID for 5Ghz and 2.4Ghz then it runs a simultaneous dual-band network that all devices can interact with. My new Moto X (2014) automatically switches to the stronger/better network, and my older 802.11n devices have zero connection drops now. Don't waste your money on anything else. I encourage everyone reading this to get this router, enjoy the beauty of it and small footprint, and enjoy your new love of wifi 802.11ac.

TP-Link has definitely impressed me with this router! The AC Wifi is lighting fast and installation was extremely easy. All I had to do was hook it up to my current modem and I was essentially up and running! My wifi speed is 30Mbps and I was able to get this speed (more like 29.xx) ALL around my medium sized home from the basement, to my attic! I was impressed with the signal strength, especially for the 2.4ghz frequency that I was able to receive all the way outside to my garage which is around 40 feet away from the base of my home. Therefore, dead zones are eliminated with this router. Its support for extremely fast internet speeds virtually keeps you up to date for a few years! Speeds as fast as this one offers are definitely hard to find or EXTREMELY expensive. Therefore, I can highly recommend this router and I suggest you refer to my video review for my full review and brief unboxing!

If you have a family with a lot of connected and wireless devices, you need a router like this one. Why:

PROS
- it has a regular 2.4 ghz network for most of your older devices
- it has a 5ghz network in a clearer part of the spectrum (this is better for more devices and for areas that have multiple routers, like a crowded neighborhood)
- the 5ghz network is fast
- the Ethernet ports are gigabit so you get really good throughput for hardwired devices like FireTV and other streaming services.
- it's a really good looking router (it looks like something that belongs in your home not like an alien spider on some starship)
- its beamforming technology means that it'll direct more power in the direction of your devices to get them the signal power they need.
- It has a USB 3.0 port so if you attach a USB3 hard drive you can get some serious speeds to that device, much faster than USB 2.
- It has some nifty and easy to use software.
- I find that this router is extremely reliable. TP-Link builds very high quality goods.
- They actually have a real life tech support department that actually listens to you and is very responsive -- in this day and age not many companies can claim this.
- Guest Network -- this is very important for when people come visit.

CONS
- about the only con to this router that I found is that I can't mount it on a wall
- the only router that is faster out there is the

10/8/2015 **FINAL EDIT: Having been in our new house since March with the router active as our gateway for nearly that entire time, I'm very confident in the ability of this router to perform (and continue performing) well in the long haul. Other than the issues mentioned in the last edit with my WHS2011 setup (which I resolved by disabling uPnP and setting manual port forwards), everything has been rock solid. The only real disconnects I've had were caused by issues with the RE210 extender dropping its communications with this router; any connection established by an end device to the router itself has performed admirably. I very recently swapped the RE210 extender with a Netgear EX6200 (through Amazon's Warehouse Deals) running in Access Point mode and I'm not noticing the same drops as I had with the RE210 in Extender mode.

Firmware updates are still forthcoming with this model, which is heartening as TP-Link's new flagship device is out in the market now. The most recent (non-beta) update to 150811 (mostly) improved on the GUI, though I feel like they should swap the "No" and "Yes" buttons in the confirmation prompts for saving changes and/or logging out of the GUI. All in all, throughput from this device remains great, connections to the WiFi networks and requests for DHCP leases via WiFi are typically processed within two seconds, and stability has been rock solid. All things considered, I have no regrets purchasing this model and would not hesitate to continue purchasing TP-Link products in the future.

6/3/2015 **EDIT: I've had the opportunity to use this in a 2,000+ square foot house for the past few months, and things have been (mostly) great so far.
