I really do love this handy little torch. Don't be fooled that it can only be used in the kitchen for fancy desserts. I have used this handy tool for many different tasks.
First of all, DO NOT ALLOW CHILDREN TO PLAY WITH THIS.
This is a TORCH. It is a precision tool that emits fire/flames. It can easily start a fire. So keep it out of the hands of anyone who is not responsible.
Let me tell you what I have found this precision torch to be useful for....
I repair saxophones as a hobby . The leather pads are held into the pad cups with shellac or hot glue or other adhesive means. The only way to remove rotted pads or leaking pads that need to be replaced is to heat the brass pad cups up. That where this handy tool has saved me so many times. It is simply great for this task.
You can also use this handy tool to perform various soldering tasks such as sweat soldering plumbing pipes.
I also use this torch to heat up shrink tube after completing a soldering job on wires.
Stubborn or rusty nuts and bolts are easier disassembled when heat is applied. This torch is handy for that.
The Butane fuel is very easy to obtain and it is the same fuel that is used on the old-fashioned pocket cigarette lighters. So you can find this fuel practically anywhere.
The fuel is very easy to load into the torch also and this torch comes with instructions.
This torch has adjustment knobs to control the flame and the heat range. Do you want a orange flame or a blazing blue flame ? Well adjust the oxygen amount with the adjustment knobs and you have full control of your heat range.. IT is simply a great little torch.Read more ›

I looked at the pictures and read other reviews. Still, a few questions lingered in my mind. 1. Is it really big? Yes, it's a man sized torch. 2. Would it fire and light every time? You bet. Without fail. And 3. Would it actually fill easily from a standard can of butane and no adapter? Yes it does. About 10 seconds to load it. The torch came nicely and securely packaged, suitable for gift giving. You just don't see this type of quality at the corner store. Great form, fit and finish. Sample for fair review. I've been getting into a baking/cooking kick lately, and thought it'd be nice to have a kitchen blow torch to use for more involved recipes. This item arrived in a timely manner, and was in great, brand-new condition. On first appearance, it was exactly as advertised in the pictures. There were two pieces to the set, the torch itself, and the base that the torch can stand on (refer to pictures I've posted). There are two sides to the torch. One side has a sliding Off/Lock switch, and the other side has a +/- sliding switch to finely adjust flame. There is a button on the opposite end of the torch nozzle that you press to ignite the torch. To keep the torch engaged, you have to slide the Off/Lock switch to the lock position, then you can release the ignition button. The handle, the torch nozzle, and the torch ignition switch seems solidly built, heavy, and good ergonomics in the hand. However, my only gripe with this product are Off/Lock and +/- switches. The switches seem like they are made of flimsy cheap plastic, and for that I gave it one less star. But that's just from a visual quality standpoint, I didn't open up the torch so I can't really attest to the true quality of the inner parts. From a functional standpoint, the switches and the ignition button, and the torch itself works amazingly. There is a strong flame that can reach up to ~4 inches from nozzle tip to flame tip, and the flame size is easily adjustable with the sliding switch. I used it yesterday to give the steak on my bruschetta a little more color and it worked great. It should have no problem doing other tasks like creme-brulee, browning meringues, or even searing pork bellies. It's great little tool to help you improve food presentation.
