It will take a while until I’ve used this mouse extensively to render a conclusive opinion, but so far, I like what I’ve experienced.

I’ve been using a Logitech MX for a few years and I like it. I should point out that my primary usage is for graphics, not gaming.

Key for me is size. I have relatively large hands and I like the mouse to pretty much fill my hand. This one does. It’s a bit more than 5 inches long, more than 3 inches wide and just over 1.5 inches high. It is, indeed, a handful.

It has switches galore: 9 programmable buttons, most of which I will never use because I can’t remember from one time to the next what functions I’ve assigned to them. (You download a Windows only app to program the buttons.)

There are weights that you can add to tune the mouse to your preference. On the Logitech, it took me only a couple of rounds to do this.

The real key for me, aside from feel, is DPI. There are four DPI settings. It will take me a while before I can tell how this is going to do as a graphics mouse over the long haul. I should probably have graduated to a tablet ages ago, but for most of the kind of graphics work I do, a highly controllable mouse works fine. Now I have to see how controllable this mouse is.

Ergonomically I am uncomfortable with the sharply sloping contour of the mouse. It is a dramatic change from the shape of the Logitech. Most likely, I just have to become accustomed to it.

So far, so good. It will be a bit before I can reach a determination, ut we’re off to a pretty good start.

UPDATE - SEE BELOW.

Overall this is a great mouse - quite possibly the most accurate I have owned by a long shot; however, there are a few areas in which the mouse falls short.

Having the ability to adjust the dpi without going into the software is a major plus in making this mouse wonderfully flexible and usable between traditional usage like email, word processing, and more precise tasks.Outside of using this for gaming, this is a brilliant mouse for everyday use and also for photo editing or other precision computer-based work.

PROS
Moused based physical DPI adjustment (absolutely love this)
Programmable buttons
Super responsive

CONS
The product description online states 8 buttons and on the box it states that it is a 9 button mouse, but this is a 6 button mouse with a scroll wheel which also clicks, which = 8 but not 9 buttons.
Awkward placement of button #9 (as per the diagram in the software) - my thumb can barely reach it without shifting my hand placement (never had this before on a mouse)
Cheep feel and appearance to materials
Software could have been a lot easier to locate. URL given was www.lenovo.com/support/mice which was a page for all Lenovo mice. The instructions given were for how to find the software, but the page only listed a download for drivers.
Brightness and breathing adjustment in the mouse software has no effect after saving the profile and applying it. Not a big deal at all but still a flaw in my mind.

In summary, I am leaving this mouse on my tower system as my #1 mouse and will use the one I was using 'til this review with my laptop instead. While not perfect (in my opinion), this definitely is a very good mouse where speed and precision are required.Read more ›

This mouse has 8 programmable buttons and has the ability to vary the weight in order to suit your wishes. The weight change is easily achieved by taking from one to four five-gram weights that are included in a little three-pronged case and putting them in the bottom of the mouse. This is a very intuitive process and I appreciated this option as I like a heavier mouse. In gaming, when action can get a bit frantic, this is a nice thing to have.

To program the extra buttons (the right and left buttons and the scroll wheel function by default like a normal two-button mouse), you need to download a driver from Lenovo's web site (the link is in the manual). The driver only works on Windows, though the basic mouse functions on a Mac as well (you just can't program the buttons with Lenovo's driver). If you want to use the other buttons on a Mac, you'll have to locate compatible third party software. I did not try this, but I did connect it by USB to a Mac mini to test the basic three button function and it was fine.

I used this mouse with Windows 8 on an HP desktop PC. The main downside for me came with the location of two of the buttons on the left side near where your thumb rests. I found that it was almost impossible during regular use to not click these two buttons and I had to disable their functionality. Using the programming software is very easy, though you cannot assign anything you like (such as Fkeys) to the mouse buttons. There is a limited range of options (including volume up/down, scrolling, and going to "My Computer"), particularly for a gaming mouse as it's often quite handy to map frequently used keyboard combinations to a mouse click on a multi-button mouse.Read more ›
