To mount a 3.5" hard drive in a 5.25" (CD/DVD) bay, this is all you need...and the price is right. You may spend a few minutes trying to figure out which way is up with these guys, but install it as shown in the photo linked to this page, and you'll have no trouble. The *slots* go against the drive, and your screw driver goes through the large oval holes to tighten them down. Then there are 4 machine screw holes on the outer flange to let you mount everything to your case.

Screws are included...If you don't have nimble fingers, you'll probably end up frustrated trying to get them started. It goes without saying that you shouldn't succumb to the temptation to use a magnetic screw driver when installing a hard drive.

This is a good product but not great. It's an adapter so it's primary function is pretty simple. However, the holes on the bracket itself are not threaded. you get self tapping screws that you must use to make the threads in it first then you are good to go. Make sure the screws go in straight or else the threads will be crooked. If the holes would have been threaded, I would have rated 5 stars.

Lets face it, it is just a simple 3.5" to 5.25" mounting bracket for the person in mind that wants to move that odd hard disk drive to the CD/DVD drive bay for what ever reason. Could be to save space and get fancy by removing the hard drive cage, or for most people that are considering such a bracket, they don't have enough space for all their storage for that odd computer case of theirs. What ever the reason, this bracket works and gets that done just as it points out it would.

::Pros::
+ Really stiff thick steel, this is not going to bend or warp on you. Can take huge abuse.
+ Included screws, plus extra
+ fits in any standard 5.25" drive bay, pop it in, screw it down, done.

::Cons:: (ya their is actually a con for a simple couple pieces of metal)
- Would of been nice to include rubber shocks/washers for anti-vibration. Because I really don't recommend using this bracket with just the screws and letting it sit in the 5.25" bay which are typically not designed for HD vibration in mind. Luckily I had some laying around, and I feel a lot better about the safety of my hard drive. Would of been perfect 5 stars other wise. But this may not bother you much.

It took me about 20 minutes to realize that to use this bracket you had to use the screw holes on the bottom of the 2.5 in drive along the long groves in the bracket. The screws that come with the bracket are not designed to be used in this manner and the drive isn't secure but can slide along the groves. There are instructions but they are limited and don't provide pictures of possible mounting positions. Reading the description I thought that the "4-pin LP4 Molex adapter cable" was a separate cable so that if you needed it, you had it. Yes the picture shows that the Molex power cable attached to the SATA mother board cable on an adapter so I didn't look very carefully. The adapter is one piece with the SATA hard drive and power cable molded together. You will need your own SATA hard drive cable if you don't need the 4-pin LP4 Molex adapter cable. If you look on the Manufactures website the two cables are independent of each other. I've requested a refund.

Revision: 4/30/15 The vendor contacted me after seeing my review and suggested I try BRACKET25X2 Drive Bay Mounting Kit rather then the one I purchased. They state it's also on Amazon. I have not purchased BRACKET25X2. I have Dell machines and these do not seem to fit Dell. It's clearly stated in the description which vendor cases it will fit.

As I wanted to put another HD into my Inspiron's 5.4 drive bay, I had to get these. Now, as I've learned before, the biggest problem installing these items is figuring out what holes you need to use and this was not any different than it normally is. Since the Inspiron uses three screws to mount burners (one on the right which serves as guide but doesn't tighten down and two on the left that do tighten down.), I had to get the screws into the HD I was going to mount right. Well, long story short, it took two tries to get it right. Once I got the HD mounted on the slot adapters right I was able to slide it into the empty 5.4 bay without any problems. I did run into one minor problem. If I had mounted the drive further into the case then I did it would press against the MB's power cables right above where they plugged into the MB. I decided that this wasn't good and also the power cable feeding the HD drops down from the burner's plug and it wasn't all that long and fit better if the HD's socket under it was as close as possible to the burner's socket. So I mounted the HD a bit farther forward than I had originally intended to. This meant I couldn't replace the slot cover on the 5.4 bay. Since the Inspiron uses a cover for the bay built into the front panel as a spring loaded drop down panel that is normally closed this wasn't a big problem so I left the cover off. These mounters were fairly easy to install and gave me just what I needed. A good investment.

I purchased these brackets to allow me to install a 3.5" hard drive in the spare 5.25" drive space.
First, there were no instructions or diagrams that shows how these brackets attached to the drive. After a few minutes of trial and error, I managed to figure out how they attach. Although they may work well with most brands of PCs, I had a difficult time installing them on a Dell. Dell tends to use special brackets and/or screws to make it easier to install the drives. In my case, the drives were designed to be held in place by special screws that have built-in spacers. This allows the drive to slide in and lock. This also means that you don't need to have access to both sides of the drive. Without these special screws, I was able to install the drive, but it was not a secure installation and I am concerned that the extra vibration may damage my hard drive. Also, the spacing of the holes are place such that it was difficult to attach the hard drive to the bracket - the access holes needed to be a little longer.
