Fantastic Soothing Motions Seat for Newborns - Includes all the bells & whistles

When looking for a baby swing for our tiny newborn granddaughter I did quite a lot of window shopping and research. I read tons of reviews and studied weights limits. I had to decide if I wanted the swing to use regular swing motions, side to side motions, bouncing motions, or be portable. I had the option of low to the ground pieces or higher up. Mobiles or not. Music or not Size restrictions, etc. Gone are the days of just buying a little wind-up swing with a plastic seat that had to be padded heavily to keep babies head up. Also gone are the days of winding up your swings. New parents now have it made.

This swing is gorgeous. It is a great for fit for my less than 5 pound granddaughter. You can customize the motion for bouncing, swaying, swinging, or a combination movement. It has 10 song and nature sounds. It plugs in, so you don't have to worry about batteries or winding the thing up.

The padding is plush, offers great head support. The head support, seat pad and infant insert are all machine washable. All topped off with dangling toys for older babies, this thing is state of the art and great.

It's perfect for parents when they need to have baby close by, but life calls and laundry or dishes need done, or bills paid. I really do not feel like parents can live as easy without an infant baby swing. This is top of the line and I absolutely recommend it.

Right On Target - Awesome Motions Seats - Deep Seat - Higher Height - Washable

I really like this soothing motions seat by Fisher-Price. I actually like it more then the Mamaroo. It has a bounce and sway motion only but the motions really mimic the way a baby is held in a parents or guardians arms. You can set it to bounce, sway or even bounce and sway. It has the overhead mobile which has 3 colorful toys and a mirror as well. The seat reclines to two different positions as well.

The soothing seat also has 10 different songs and nature sounds. The seat itself is very comfortable- its soft to the touch and supportive. Its fully removable so you can wash the seat pad, infant insert and head support (all included) right into the washer. The controls are very easy and right on the base. It plugs right into the wall and has a decent cord length. The seat also has nice calming vibrations, nothing over powering like some other seat's I've tested. I like the fact that the seat is nice and deep. The seat is also alot higher off the ground. The Mamaroo I find to be very low to the ground (becomes a back killer) It's also neutral colors and nothing overly bright, so it will match any decor and for a boy or girl. The foot-pad isn't as large as other "swings" either. This is one of my favorites, great new motions seat.

BEST NEW "Does everything chair" out there!!!

LOVE this seat! I bought the Momaroo thinking it would be this magical chair and that for the price it would be my one indulgment. Baby hated it not to mention the noise and movements for the price were subpar. However this Fisher Price chair does the trick. It is quiet, the sound quality is great an the twisting motion along with the up and down really is like a mothers rocking motion. There are so many different settings that you can pick just the right combo for your baby. I love that it sits high off the floor as well (easier to place baby in). Deffinatly worth the money and much cheaper than the Momaroo.

The new "swing"!

I love the unique features of this new swing replacement. Every family with a newborn knows how much of a life saver swings can be and are pretty much considered a must-have for soothing babies when you have to get some work done around the house or you need a little assistance in getting a fussy baby to sleep. My biggest gripe with swings was always the fear of falling out. No, this never happened to us and, yes, there are seat belts and we use them, but it was always a silly paranoid fear of mine. Having a large dog around the house also makes swings a pain because she never seems to learn that she's going to get whacked if she moves in to kiss the baby, which ultimately upsets both of them.

This new soothing motions seat solves both of those issues. I wish we had one of these all along, really. I love being able to have my baby close to me while I sit next to hear reading and be able to look at her and talk to her without her constantly swinging away and toward me again. She gets the benefits of the calming movement and I find it much more calming for me, too.

The songs are your typical fare here, but I really like the nature sounds. The music on these toys always gets repetitive but the nature sounds are just enough that they kind of blend in with the background and don't get annoying quickly. I honestly never used the sounds with our baby swing but I love these so I keep them on most of the time.

I also love that it actually plugs into the wall (who thought running these huge things on batteries was a good idea, anyway?!) and it's super easy to clean. The whole insert comes out very easily and is machine washable. The rest of the surface is very easy to wipe down and doesn't have many hard to reach crevices so that is much appreciated.Read more ›

versatile baby seat

This is a unique seat/swing. It keeps baby at a comfortable height and entertained while I get things done around the house. While it doesn't lul my little one to sleep it's entertaining enough to allow me a solid half hour of time to do housework. The controls are simple and intuitive though awkwardly placed under the front of the seat. The curved legs allow me to slide it from room to room on our hardwood floors without leaving scratches.

Compared to our momaroo the quality is somewhat lower but what it lacks in quality it makes up for in versatility. The bouncing and vibrating movements mean this seat will work even if your baby doesn't care for the mechanical walking movements of the momaroo. This seat is also higher off the ground which was a relief after the past few months of stooping to fuss with the ground level momaroo buttons.

I like this seat as a place to put baby while I'm doing housework. For naps my little one still prefers our regular swing. This makes a great seat to move around the house to keep baby close by and entertained for those times when a carrier is just not a practical option. It's an alternative to a swing but, in my experience, is more of a replacement for a bouncy seat than a swing, particularly for newborns.
