I bought this to replace a neck on a Squier Stratocaster because its original neck had a bad truss rod. I could have bought a cheaper neck, but let's face it: it's nice to have a real Fender neck, complete with the Fender logo.

Once I had installed the neck and restrung the guitar, I noticed that the wound strings had a definite buzz from the nut. The slots all needed to be filed for two reasons: first, because of the buzzing, and second, to bring the slot height closer to the fingerboard. I had been looking for an excuse to buy a set of nut files anyway. A little bit of patience and a little bit of time on the workbench and the guitar plays well with no buzz.

I would definitely recommend this neck. However, the buyer should be prepared to file the nut using the proper tools, or take it to a guitar tech for a proper setup.

This review is long overdue. My brother's beloved Stratocaster suffered a broken neck last winter and he was heartbroken. The neck was hanging off the guitar and split from the head stock to about the fourth fret. He thought the guitar was a lost cause but I decided to see what I could do. I was able to glue the neck back together and reassemble the guitar. To my surprise the guitar held a tune and sounded fine. He played it that way until he saved up the money to purchase a new neck. The first neck we received had a very small blemish that probably would not effect play but my brother opted to return that neck. I explained in the RMA that my brother felt like he had an obligation to his Stratocaster to restore it as it was before the injury. The fine folks at Fender must have read my RMA because the replacement neck had multiple inspection stamps where it bolts to the guitar body. I am no luthier but I did my best and mounted the neck to the guitar and gently filed the nut as far as I was comfortable. As a result the action was too high. My brother then took the guitar to a local music store and requested a Plek (Google it) treatment be done on it. When my brother returned to the store the luthier informed him the Plek report showed the neck was perfect, all it needed was to have the nut properly filed. The luthier commented that once he finished with the nut it "played like a dream".

Sorry for the long review but I wanted to give the fine people at Fender their due. My brother;s Stratocaster survived a terrible injury and played on with a glued together neck, that is craftsmanship. Then Fender provided us with a PERFECT replacement neck at a very reasonable price and now his ten year old Strat plays better then ever. That is quality.

Great body at a great price, I bought two for custom all Fender builds and they are flawless, just make sure that you know that the tremolo is set up for a pre 2006 vintage tremolo and you will be alright, and for those of you complaining about the 3 single coil routing, wtf??? Get a router or a Dremel or even a chisel like the old days and make it happen. Excellent buy, excellent product, add more colors Fender!

I decided to bought this neck after reading all the reviews posted here, but, take care with that because everyone have his own point of view, and even worse when comes from a unexperienced guitar player.
The rosewood is horrible, looks like a cheap Wood similar of those that you can find in the squier line.
Even with treatment, dunlop maintenance kit, lemon oil, etc, the rosewood still look dry and crappy.
I made a Gilmour Red Strat using a gorgeous Mighty Mite vintage tint neck, take a look on my review here in amazon, and now i'm really upset trying to understand why i decided to buy this awful MIM neck.
I did not gave it 1 star just because besides the quality of the rosewood, the neck is well made.

I was skeptical about buying this for so much without one review but I took a chance and I'm extremely happy. This fit perfect on my 90's stratocaster and looks beautiful. Well worth the price. Only con is I had to drill hole for string guide. If you are comparing this to other necks for your strat you're wasting your time. I've had other replacement necks and they don't compare to this one. This is a true fender strat neck made in u.s.a. With a beautiful finish.

I was looking at Warmoth necks for my partscaster project, but frankly I didn't want to wait 5-6 weeks on the custom neck I wanted. On a lark, I decided to see if I could utilize Prime shipping on something from Amazon to help speed my project along. I was pleasantly surprised to find a real Fender neck on here for only $199. The made in Mexico part doesn't bother me, as I don't require the extra features on the US made necks. When the neck arrived, I was very pleased with the quality. The satin finish is exactly what I wanted, and the medium jumbo frets required basically no work. It also was a perfect fit for the Daphne Blue XGP Strat body that I have. I'll be buying the all Maple version of this next for my next project, and I can't recommend it highly enough. Especially for the price!
