I've used Feliway products before, especially the spray, to calm various of our cats. Currently, we have three young cats and the youngest likes to "play rough" with the others. They spend a lot of time in a spare bedroom, and I would occasionally hear squabbles from there, so that room was a good place to try the "Comfort Zone" diffuser.

The diffuser is the same as in other Feliway products - it plugs in to an electrical outlet and warms the oil from the inserted bottle, gradually releasing the synthetic pheromones. A bottle lasts about a month.

This is the sort of product that's difficult to review properly, since really all you can go on is impressions, but my impression is that the yowls coming from that bedroom definitely decreased, and I'd sometimes see the youngest and her chief target sitting side-by-side on the sofa. Given that, I'd say it does work.

The problem, though, is that if your house is of any size, you'll need a lot of these to reduce the tension everywhere the cats can go, and that can get expensive. But as a targeted remedy, it seems to live up to the manufacturer's claims.

One problem I had was when I accidentally knocked the diffuser out of its outlet. While the bottle didn't dislodge, there was oil all over the outside of it. You'll want to place this where it can't get bumped.

I have three cats, all males and all between 8 and 9 years old. One of them is notorious for picking on either of the other two whenever they go to the vet. And he doesn't pick on them for a day, or two, or three. It lasts weeks. Recently, I needed to take one of the "other" cats to the vet. As usual, I dreaded it, because I knew what the repercussions would be. Sure enough, when we got back from the vet, the bully cat started the bullying: Growling, hissing, and swatting at the cat that had gone to the vet. The bullying got so bad that the "vet cat" got very stressed out and started urinating outside of the litter box. Enter the Feliway Diffuser. I plugged the diffuser into the outlet in our laundry room, which is where the cats spend their nights. Lo and behold, within a few days all of the cats seemed much calmer. The bully cat stopped picking on the cat that went to the vet. The cat that went to the vet stopped urinating outside the litter box. And things have been fine ever since. I firmly believe that Feliway is the reason why. I will definitely be buying refills for my diffuser. Feliway has made life in my house--for both the cats *and* me--much more enjoyable!!

We have 11 cats (all fixed, insured, and vaccinated!) and one of them is a true scaredy cat. Actually, I'm pretty sure he suffers from anxiety. He wants to be part of the group, but he runs whenever a human comes by, and he is intimidated by a lot of the other cats. I plugged this diffuser into an outlet under a barstool he likes to hang out on. So he breathes this in a lot, and I have to say that while he's still not jumping up on my lap, he has been a little calmer. He doesn't flinch as much when I walk by, and he doesn't run if I try to pat him while he's on the barstool.

This doesn't have an odor that I can detect. Monte (my scaredy cat) still likes to hang out about 2 feet above where this is plugged in, so he either likes the scent, or he doesn't care one way or the other.

This says it will last 30 days. I haven't had it plugged in that long, so I can't attest to that. One of the other reviewers mentioned putting this on a timer to extend the life, and for the price of the refills, I think that's a great idea!

Oh, as to the cats getting along better with each other, I can say that there seem to be a lot fewer squabbles in that room than on the other floor of the house.

A little background, we adopted an older special needs Siamese cat 4 months ago who developed slight aggression issues which were only made worse by a recent prednisone prescription. Working with a certified behavior veterinarian who came to the house, we were able to curb some behaviors but not all. He was randomly attacking my other two cats, one of whom started basically rage humping my senior female...yeah, things got rough for a bit.
Finally, the behaviorist said we might try the feliway diffuser. I rushed out and got the multicat one, and honestly I can say that even as soon as 24 hours in, things were MUCH better.
The humping stopped, the stalking stopped, and most of the hissing and screeching my senior gal did when the humpy male or angry Siamese walked by was stopped. Everyone actually slept together by day 3 of feliway. Sometimes I'd find them all piled near the outlet it was plugged in, all happy-like. It was actually magical. It says it can take up to one week to see any results at all but ours were very immediate and dramatic. Again, magical. BUT...
I started being unable to breathe in my house. I have very mild asthma, so mild I only have one rescue inhaler I've only ever had to use once before this. All "standard" tests show no asthma or lung problems but the advanced tests show mild asthma so I just carry this inhaler just in case. I give this background just so you know how mild it was and yet how seriously the feliway aggravated it. Well for 3 of 4 days (day 1 was not as bad since it was on only 1/4 that first day but got worse in time once it was in and on constantly) I had to use the rescue inhaler every day or else I felt I'd pass out. I got so bad by the 4th day I almost called 911.
