There are many knock offs of this type of tool on the market. These things are great even for really small holes like jewelry box hinges that have really small screws. I was having trouble with the heads of the small screws breaking off in my work piece before they were half in. Oak, Purple Heart ,walnut ect. Drilling with a regular bit I never could get it exactly center and with small hinges you have to be exact. These bits do the trick. I would highly recommend.

I compared these to a three piece set from Woodcraft at nearly $30 the set; for the price it was worth a chance. They don't come in fitted plastic case, loose in a bag. Holding them in my hand for a visual comparison at Woodcraft they appear identical. There were minor burrs on the threads and the chip relief slots but were easily buffed off with a wire wheel. The design is that the centering sleeve is spring loaded, the bit plunges into the parent material once the sleeve centers on the tapered hole of the hinge. Obviously, the design is not to drill to full depth but to spot or create a lead hole for the actual drilling; the whole point is to center the screw. Crushing the spring mechanism to full depth will overload the chip evacuation and load the whole thing up; a simple spot and lead and you then drill to whatever depth you want. The whole system is a great idea, works exactly like you think it should, this offering is a great value, shipped right on time and fully tracked. I'd do it again and I'll recommend it to any cabinet maker, amateur or professional.

I'm giving it 2 for the low price, however expectations should be low also. They do make holes and they do center in the hing plate, once then it's the unloading sawdust from them so they can be used again. I gave up and bought a Bosch set for around $20.00.

So inexpensive they are definitely well worth it. SPRING is weak on some - but you can unscrew the knurled knob and STRETCH spring way out, and forcefully screw it back together w/ the spring yielding more tension/pressure for force the bit to the return / closed position.

I have used Vix bits for over 20 years and love them. I was looking forward to having them with a hex shank. These are a total disappointment. They don't fit properly in the hinge it is supposed to work with and the bits wobble.

I have multiple projects of making wooden product. I have been using this drill bit since last year. The strength of the drill bit is enough to drill any types of wood. The drill bit can dig perfectly into the wood with a very small time. The overall performance of the drill bit is convincing. We can fit on this drill bit. It’s really dependable and not broken. Easy to use and manage. Do not over heat much during the drill.

The bits are good and look great. I use them for wood projects.Easy to control and leaves a clean hole, even in hard woods. Nice addition to my carpenters tool kit. The adjustable stop prevents drilling to deep, especially of in tight areas. Very good set of bits, in fact excellent. Multiple uses and long-term operation on a variety of drills didn't stop these little nifties from performing perfectly.

I managed these bits in the middle of the last February from my shop partner’s workers and immediately start using it. Still, we are using it and don’t find any troubles till now. Every pre-drilled hole was solely centered. The bits edges are quite sharp and strong so it can cut holes easily. I would definitely recommend it for anyone who needs it. Thanks for such a wonderful drill bit.
