I relied on the reviews and it seemed like a good product to purchase. I have had it for almost year and worked just fine, then today I read on Wired that it is vulnerable to a paperclip. From what the wired article had shown a wide variety of their safes are vulnerable.

I checked with a paperclip and it opened right away. The hardest part was getting the plastic facade away from the key hole as you can see with my video.

UPDATE:
After contacting stack-on about the issue I received a replacement lock to fix the problem. Lock took 10 minutes to replace and isn't as vulnerable to issues.

Most other reviews have covered many of the high points. I got mine on sale and you can't beat the price for piece of mind. I got ours to lock up hand guns when the grand kids come over and this easily meets my needs.
The inside is nicely padded, large enough for a 9MM, a Bersa 380 and a Ruger 38 Special LCR and there is still room for ammo.
It is easy to use, has a key for back up incase you forget your code and you can secure the safe to the surface you select. Easy directions although there are no pictures.
Comes with 4 made in China off brand AA batteries that I discarded and replaced with US made Duracell batteries.
All in all I am quite pleased for the product and the price and this certainly will keep my hand guns out of inquisitive hands.

I added some pictures and I recommend.

Construction

This is a solid and relatively, heavy case comprised of thick steel. The finish is a matte black. The keypad is plastic and takes a 4 to 8 number combination. A key cover houses the keyhole so it has a dual capability for access. A small handle allows you to lift the door open.

This unit is mountable, if you wish, and comes with the necessary hardware for that purpose (I chose not to mount this).

Use

Simply enter your code, turn the knob and lift the door. If you have 3 unauthorized codes this unit will lock you out.

This case is sturdy with 2 pins that keep any unwanted people from prying this open. It fits easily into a medium sized drawer. Setting the code is easy: Simply push the red button after you open this and push the desired code. One major bit of importance, if you need a spare key or the code, you need a copy of your receipt.

This fits 2 compact revolvers and a Compact Semiautomatic Pistol well. However, with storage, its depth does not allow for trigger locks to be installed on the firearms.

There is a foam pad that is removable; however, the sides are not padded.

I won't go on for too long about what a great value this is. Solid construction, easy operation, and quick access.

Here are a couple tips to make it more secure and quicker to access:

1) Drill a couple holes, one near the middle of the top long side and the other near the middle of the bottom long side. That allows you to secure this to a wall stud so it's really secure.

2) Mount it upside down. Why, you ask? Watch the video and see.

Bottom line: perfect to mount somewhere to have a handgun securely stored and immediately available.

As a customer who has a Stack-On wall locker, I was expecting the same type of sheet metal construction. However, this safe is the real deal. It is solid metal constuction with a beefy door. And two 3/4" locking pins. I have not mounted this yet, but be careful if mounting in an upright position. This was made to bolt into a drawer, so pay attention to how the door will open. Anyway, I had it out of the box and into operation in under two minutes. I was hesitant to get a battery operated safe, but with the back-up key feature, my mind was put at ease. The instructions could use pictures as I had a bit of trouble figuring out how to access the hidden keyhole. In short this is a great, sturdy safe that is perfect for keeping my CCW out of the reach of the kids while still being easily accesible to mommy and daddy. I liked it so much and thought it was a great price, I picked one up for my dad who recently purchased his first gun and worries because he has 13 grandkids running around the house at any given time.

I discovered that the "lock" on my unit can be opened using an unaltered paperclip. It took several attempts at contacting Stack-On before I received any acknowledgement of my complaint. I was led on with requests for 'more information' over the course of two weeks. Like others, I was told ultimately told that my lock is 'not defective'--despite the fact that it can easily be opened with a paper clip--and would not get a replacement. Since then, several of my emails have been ignored. If you looking for a deterrent to theft I guess this safe might me ok, but with Stack-On no longer replacing the defective locks its pretty useless for actual protection.
