I have to say... I am ashamed of all the negative things I had to say about this pedal... first of all, I think I was caught up in expectations and I was waiting to be blown away by this compressor... and when the day came to finally use it, I was underwhelmed...
But here's the thing... It's all about the Tone Print Editor...
when I first got it I was obviously impressed by all the features... I started playing with my Les Paul... then switched to my Strat... and beamed the Stratocomp from my Iphone and I was amazed on how the character of the pedal changed... brighter, punchier and very good for the strat... But then I started to notice that it made some of my other pedals on my chain to not sound very good... Then, I compared it to my favorite comp. The Xotic SP compressor... and I just felt like even a feature packed pedal cannot beat the amazing circuit of the Xotic... that pedal just makes your guitar shine!!!! as were with the available tone prints or vintage mode... wasn't that great... tone wise...
The Sp Was superior in every way... I've been in contact with the TC people over social media and they kept insisting it was just not a compressor for me... but that all my problems could be addressed with the editor... I tried the editor and I found that I didn't understand much of the wy compressors work under the hood and I didn't really improve my tone very much... Then I got a Flashback Triple Delay, and for example, even though the tape and analog modes have great sound quality, they do not sound like tape echoes or analog bucket brigade circuits... So I started spending more time with the Flashback editor... and I was AMAZED of how powerful the editor actually is and how dramatically I was able to change delays and create some amazing sounding stuff...

I fell for the hype, first gave it 5 stars , but since then I've really got a chance to use it in different situations.... This is a feature packed pedal... The tone print downloads and the tone pront editor alone is worth the price you pay for this compressor.... If you just hook the comoressor to your amp and guitar... It sounds amazing... If you ise a strat... Beam the tone print called stratocomp... And wow... It sounds amazing!!! But the sound rises wuite a lot... The good thing it that it sounds louder but the hum from single coils doesn't get amplified... That is pretty awesome.... But then I realized that if t gets so loud that it drives all my other pdelas... The signal is just too high... And in that tone print the Level button is changed to some other parameter so yeah... I'm stuck with an extremely hot signal that does not sound good with my fuzz pedals ...
Another thing, the vintage mode does not sound as good as the xotic sp compressor nor the wampler ego... That is a bummer because that is the only mode I can use... The spectra being a little too over the top... Too much high end and too loud...
Another con is that when you try to dial in your sweet spot compression the knobs have latency.... Another bummer... You might thing this is not a big deal... But when you try to dial something subtle and clean it's a pain when you have to dial it back then forward then back again....
I sold my xotic sp because at first I thought it blew it out of the water easy... I was distracted by all the features.... But in terms in sound ... Is a little too sterile.... In soectra mode... And a little too dark in vintage.... I miss my SP Compressor! The sweetest sound I have ever heard!!!
