I havent chewed gum since high school (which has been 8 years now). I was very much concerned about the use and practice of animal cruelty in most gums sold in the US. Then many ingredients like aspartame or sucralose showed up in these gum packaging. I saw the wintergreen bulk size on lightning deal, and decided to give it a try. I liked PUR gum so much that I decided to buy the spearmint ones since the packaging was easier to get the individual pieces out rather out of a foil casing. When I saw that this gum was made by the Swiss; I did some research of my own. Turns out, most aspartame comes from China... and I just had far too many bad experiences with buying food from China like dog treats (killed thousands of dogs in the US, including a few friends who I known who had dogs), apple juice from China -- had arsenic, and goji berries (non-FDA approved pesticides used).

My only complaint with the spearmint & wintergreen gums, are the flavors don't last as long, but the texture remains consistent. I am just happy that all of the ingredients in there aren't foreignly sourced from China. I would like to keep my internal organs healthy.

The Pur Spearmint gum is helping me to well on my way to be smoke free. During this time I am going thru a lot of gum! The bag is a 57 count of individual pieces of gum. I find that when a craving strikes me I can chew away and be distracted. Plus fresher breath is a bonus. The gum is easy to chew. It is supremely sticky. So don't fall asleep or set it down on anything when it's chewed. It would definitely make a huge mess in your hair, just like the good ole days in school. I like the flavor. the gum actually lasts beyond the 5 minute mark unlike many other brands when you chew it.

The sweetness fades pretty quick, but I'm chewing it for the xylitol to fight bacteria, not to chew gum, so I don't mind. The mint flavor lasts longer though. The only thing I don't like is sometimes little bits of it come loose from the main wad.

Xylitol is actually good for your teeth as it kills bad bacteria that cause tooth decay. Other gums with aspertame, sorbitol, etc. are less harmful to teeth but still encourage some bacteria growth. Taking this information into account, this gum is excellent. It doesn't last as long (flavor and texture) as some other types of gum, but it shouldn't be compared to sugared, sorbitol, or aspertame gums as it is MUCH better for you. I chew a couple pieces after each meal when I can't brush my teeth right away to help prevent tooth decay due to sugars (sugar, carbs, etc.) staying in my mouth. It also promotes saliva which helps prevent tooth decay as well. Enjoy!
