I love DYMO products, However, I had to research to find the correct tape with no luck. Then I came accross this message: ATTENTION: Dymo recently modified the shape of it's label cartridges and they are no longer compatible with the Dymo 1000 printer. However, if you call Dymo at 1-800-640-6944 and tell them you have one, they will replace with the new Dymo LabelManager 260P (a great new rechargeable printer) for FREE. Be sure you have a newer model when ordering this cartridge. The main difference is the size of the curved cutout on the bottom right. The old model is large at 1" and new is smaller at 1/2".

Well, if you purchased a Dymo Label Machine, you are going to have to buy Dymo tape, but I thought I'd let you know a couple of things that I have found.

First of all, I checked around locally for the best deal - this deal, especially with Prime came out about 25% less than buying it at my local stores. :-)

Second, this stuff isn't kidding when it says it peels easily. You just fold the label in half and peel it off the label. MUCH easier than some of the other brands.

I like the black on white best, although I also have used the black on clear. The clear one works best if you are using a light colored background, since the full background will show through.

If prices (rather than ease of use) are a concern, I would check out the Brother Label machines and tapes, since they run less than the Dymo.

I only wish the label maker itself had better directions on how to install and set up for the various widths of tape available. But that is no fault of the replacement tape itself. The lengthwise split in the backing makes removal of the backing VERY easy. Additionally, it allows the user to stick the label on across only one half of the label first to make sure it's straight and get out any bubbles or creases - then remove the other half of the backing to smooth the label on the rest of the way. Very good design.

EDITED: The first tape was just fine, and I rated it 5-stars. However, I've since been able to obtain and review two of the new "neon" colored labels (each 10 feet long), and also recently purchased another 23 foot tape to replace my previous order. All three of these recently acquired (one purchased - 23' long - and two free as an Amazon Vine reviewer - the 10' tapes) would not feed when I tried to print. I figured out that if I pulled out a substantial amount of tape, something inside loosened up and the rest of the cartridge fed properly. But if we're paying for 23 feet (or 10 feet), we ought to get the full amount purchased. And strangely, you can see the spool of tape inside the cartridge. There is PLENTY of space on the INSIDE of the spool, yet it seems to be jammed up against the outside of the spool, inside the area where the spool is stored. Why it doesn't relieve the pressure by unwinding a little from the inside of the spool is unknown - there's plenty of space for that to happen, and that's exactly what happens with the previous 23' spool I got.

So bottom line: just know that you MAY have feeding problems. You can either waste up to a foot of tape by pulling it out of the cartridge manually, or take advantage of Amazon's superior return/replace policy and just contact them to get another one (and hope that one works). Once it starts feeding properly - if that becomes a problem - it'll be fine.

When I first tried to put this cartridge into my old Dymo 1000, it wouldn't fit. But, then I found the following information posted elsewhere, and Dymo really does offer to replace your old 1000 with a LabelMaker 260P for FREE! They don't even ask you to pay the shipping -- they cover the entire cost. This really gives me confidence in purchasing other Dymo products, knowing that they will do the right thing. They said that they know they changed the D1 cartridge, and they are responsible for making it right with the customers.

This is good labeling tape. I like the black lettering on white background because it works on everything and I don't have to keep swapping cartridges. The 1/4 inch size has, so far, been perfect for me for labeling everything in sight. The letters are nice and big, easy to read. The ink dries instantly and doesn't run when wet (I tried it). I put these labels on my dry goods containers and I have had no peeling over time (I've had the labels on for a few months), even with the powdered goods like flour, which I use often. The paper backing on the tape is pre-sliced down the center for easy removal, and the glue feels strong.

I was searching at a few stores and sites for the replacement Dymo tape and in some instances it almost paid to buy a whole new machine. I saw that Amazon sold the replacement cartriges for less than other store. I love Amazon and with free shipping you can't go wrong.
