This is an amazingly good vacuum, fantastic for hard floors and great on carpet too. You're asking yourself, it's just a vacuum right?

We have two cats, two dogs and two young toddlers all generating a lot of floor filth - and no carpet downstairs, a direction many homeowners are moving. Our brushless canister vac is powerful, but also loud, heavy and a pain to drag around and store. Our Oreck upright is lightweight but just scatters the debris everywhere even on the low setting, while our dust mop tends to leave debris behind even when taking the time to shake it out every 5 feet. So for nearly a year I'd been looking for a decent vacuum that is actually designed with hard floors in mind, rather than as just an afterthought. The Powerhead does this job flawlessly.

Pros:
1. Powerful suction: Easily able to vacuum up all the messes I threw at it. In our tiled (uneven flooring) kitchen it picks up pet hair, cat litter, cheerios, soggy spaghetti, leaves, acorns, broken glass and even spilled flour with equal ease, all without scattering it, all on the first pass (using the Gentle Touch roller). On our area rugs even the Gentle Touch roller can sweep off the pet hair in 2-3 passes (on high), while the regular carpet brush made short work of mashed-in dried on PopTart for our upstairs carpet, though I admit I am mostly using the unit downstairs on the hard floors. Honestly, I am continually amazed how much filth it picks up from floors and carpets I would swear weren't really dirty.

My wife and I have been using a Shark Rotator Powered Lift-Away Deluxe vacuum cleaner for several months, and we're now completely sold on Shark. We expected to be equally impressed with the Shark Rocket PowerHead, and I can honestly say that we are. It's as well thought-out and constructed as our first Shark, and it's a pleasure to use, especially in rooms that are small and don't have much space for maneuvering.

The design of the Rocket PowerHead produces a one-piece vacuum cleaner that retains the advantages of a steerable, powered brush roller. With its compact design, the brush roller can vacuum beneath furniture with only a few inches of clearance.

We've been using the Shark Rocket PowerHead for the last couple of weeks, and it's consistently performed very well. If I had to mention any negatives, it's that the dust cup is small, so you may have to empty it fairly often. But that's a minor quibble, and in any case, the dust cup is easy to empty. In the accompanying video, I demonstrated some of the features that we most liked.

My wife and I give the Shark Rocket PowerHead two thumbs up for its ability to thoroughly clean carpets and hard surfaces while being very easy to use.

Pretty amazing how I was one of Dyson's customer's that said nothing is better than a Dyson. Read on...

I have the Dyson DC33 and it has been great! I have two long haired dogs and am constantly running the vacuum. The Dyson would pick up everything, or so I thought. I have been using the DC33 for about 4 years, but have recently gotten tired of not being able to vacuum low pile rugs. So I decided to watch some TV in another room since the wife was watching one of her shows, (Scandal, American Horror Stories or something like that, KUWK-Keeping up with the Kardashians) I lose my mind when the later comes on, so I watch something in another room. While I was flipping through the channels I came across an infomercial about the Shark Rocket PowerHead and after the salesman pitched it as being the best things since sliced bread, I decided to give it a try. Got it in the mail 2 days later and had it vacuuming in less than 10 minutes after I got it out of the box. I first vacuumed with the Dyson and then the same area with the Shark. Take a look at the picture to see for yourself! I am a believer in this product and now can vacuum our low pile rug. It has a suction control where you can change it to allow you to vacuum rugs specifically for this problem.

Ok so here's the scoop. I purchased one for our apartment in New york city. i had an area rug that had all kinds of white piling junk on it...dirty ...could never get it clean. With this item it did an amazing job of making the area rug brand new looking...I will admit when it works it works well..as far as suction and there are two speeds..However, I purchased another one..from another company and the unit stopped working after one hour of use. To be more exact, the unit made the sound of suctioning but the roller brush stopped spinning completely. I was on the phone with technical support to make sure I had the roller in properly and it was. So the spinning is controlled but the right side wheels..which internally is controlled by a belt of all things....either the belt snapped or slipped is my guess...This unit is very cheaply made...plasticky and almost looks and feels like a kids toy...If you buy it direct from Shark they give you a 5 year warranty and I would recommend that or if you can get an extended warranty from amazon go for it. I unfortunately have never had an item that malfunctioned after one hour use....Like I said,,if its working the suctioning in fairness to this product is great..and gets more dirt out of carpets than my high end oreck unit...its light weight swivels nicely and can get under carpets..however due to the fact it broke so fast I have to be the first one here to give it no more than one star at best...Im sure those who are high on this product will comment on this...but I feel my obligation to let users know what they might be in for...
