I jumped on board the UFC as a fan back in season one of The Ultimate Fighter. I drifted away for a while, but came back a few years ago. Since then, I have been fortunate to have my wife become a fan as well.

This game was actually a lot more fun than I had hoped. The graphics are a blast, and I used my EA stored facial image to create my own fighter who looks like me. That was cool until I got my butt kicked and bled all over the place in my first attempt at fighting.

I will say that it is a good idea to use the training tutorials as you seek to get better at the game. I am sort of a one-trick pony right now as I throw right jab after right jab. This game will make you use the entire controller to pull off the various combinations.

The added cool factor of being able to pick the winners for bonus points to upgrade your fighter by selecting winners, how they will win, and the round in upcoming UFC events really pulls you into the sport. I think it is a brilliant marketing idea and connects you not only to your fighter, but also to the UFC as well. Sure, some may dismiss this game as a playable commercial for Dana White's baby, but who cares if it is fun!?

My wife was as enthusiastic in her cheering while I was playing the game as she had become when watching the actual events. So, this 50 year old guy gets to play games WHILE his wife watches. Bonus!

Overall, very fun. I had given up on EA with the Madden thing, but his has revitalized my interest, plus, my wife now asks me if I am going to play my UFC game tonight.

I have been a long time MMA fan and always enjoy fighting in MMA games that have been made. The first EA UFC game was a pretty good start and they did a pretty decent job with this one. Below are what personally I like about the game and then my issues with it.

The goods.
-Roster has an insane amount of fighters to pick from. Great improvement over last UFC game.
-Graphics look on point. The fights look amazing and so do the fighters. Some improvements made over the previous game for sure.
-Fighting feels very good. The striking is still a lot of fun, not too much changed in that area. The ground game is very different, still unsure if I like it or not to be honest. Feels hard to keep someone on the ground and really easy to get up but probably just need some more practice in this area. Submissions are same, just wish stamina played a bigger role, even when someone has no stamina they can escape just the same as if it was full.
-Ultimate Team is so far a lot of fun. Opening packs are exciting and keep you wanting more to see what goodies you will get. Creating your team can take a while but it is enjoyable to manage your team with their perks and moves. I do dislike that you have to manage each fighters "stamina" by equipping the card each time so they don't suck going into each fight.

Problems.
-Online is a lot of fun if you get the right person to fight. I have had plenty of amazing fights where it is back and forth and a war. But many times people simply run away the entire fight and will spam one single thing.

This is the first fighting game i've owned in over a decade. I say owned because although I have played others, none seemed worth the investment. This one however is fantastic. My one disclaimer, I have not ventured into the online play, mine has strictly been PvP or AI until I get a better feel for the controls.

Pros
- The controls in the this game have depth. You can come at this like an old school button masher and cause mass destruction to both players, or you can play the thoughtful game and time your moves/combos for effect.
- Graphics are really good. The detail to the individual fighters is very good.
- Lots of variety. You can really see the different strengths and weaknesses in the different fights. Chuck Lidell's kicks are devastating and you do not want to fight Mike Tyson standing up.

Cons
- Tutorial system. The tutorial system is not bad, but it isn't great. Even when in tutorial mode there isn't much in the way of instruction. I have yet to figure out how to do a submission. I haven;t figured the correct way you are meant to defend them either, but slamming on the sticks and buttons seems to work for now and keeps me out of trouble.

I have less than a week on this game but so far I really like it. The most amazing part to me is the wife, who is not a game person (candy crush doesn't count) has asked to play some PvP and, sadly, currently has the most wins. The great PvP alone makes this game a winner for me and I can't wait to venture online.

Best ever UFC game period ... Nothing like the older games... As about as real as it gets... There are a few fighters that I cannot beat.... Pretty darn real!!!! Wish that was my job... Making these games

It has lots of neat options for sex and weight class, and it looks pretty. Everything else about this game sucks. It is the worse UFC yet for playability. The controls are beyond wonky and your ai opponents do not seem to have the same stamina rules as you. The training system for improving characters is awful. I am so disappointed. I hope I can return this garbage and get my money back.
