Interesting toy. First let me say, that both my 17 month old and three-year-old love it! However, I would not describe it as educational per se. It might be educational for the 17-month-old, but definitely not for the three-year-old! It is very loud, and I wish it had volume control. It has a very odd picture on the back. Also, some of the sounds are peculiar (almost sexual, but I think they are supposed to be baby sounds). It seems to have a British accent when saying the names of the fruit. It looks like something I would purchase really cheap in Chinatown.
However, as I mentioned, my kids love it and are fighting over it. It's the exact size and shape of my iPhone 5S, which is possibly why they like it so much! So if that's what you were going for, you're in luck! I gave it 4 stars because my kids love it sooooo much.
It is rechargeable, which is a feature I really like. However, I have not had to recharge it yet. However, it does not come with a cord for recharging.
Because there is no way to turn off the sound and still use the phone, you couldn't use it in a place of business to keep your kids quiet, because the phone is soooooo loud.

I received this at a discount in exchange for an honest review, and am disappointed that I can't recommend this!
I am giving it two stars instead of one because my 22 months old absolutely loves it, but there are several significant drawbacks, as well as safety hazards.
-Phone states that it is not for under 3 years, however, the different modes of learning and sounds are very obviously intended for a younger audience. My 3 year old pushed the buttons a few times and got bored with it.
-It seems very flimsy. Clear plastic case is not going to hold up to much, and there are many small electronic parts visible inside. My son is playing with it at the moment, but I won't be letting it stay around our house for very long.
-The sound level is VERY loud. In fact, the packaging states (and I've included a picture in my review) that "If the volume of mobile is loud, please do not let it close to the ears" (exact quote). So, a toy phone that can't be used as a phone if it's too loud, but doesn't have a way to adjust the volume? To me, that says they knew it was too loud, and didn't do anything about it.
-The 'instructions' on the packaging are poorly worded, and it is clear that they are a translation. (see my above point).
While I don't necessarily have a problem with products made in other countries, to me poorly worded directions indicate that the entire process is controlled overseas, and unfortunately, many times these manufacturers do not follow all applicable safety standards. It seems that a warning that it is for three years and older on a product that is clearly more appropriate for a younger audience is a way of getting around US small parts and use/abuse testing, which makes me wonder what other issues (lead, pthalates, etc) might not have been properly tested for.
As enjoyable as my toddler finds it, we won't be keeping it and I can't recommend it to others.

Having 2 y.o. twins, I am always excited to find something fun for them. I was very happy to get this toy at a discounted price in exchange for my unbiased and honest review.
I split the toys I have at home into 2 categories: EDUCATIONAL and FUN. Some toys combine both, but that doesn't happen too often. I tend to place mostly many Educational Toys around my kids playroom, so they can learn things. This phone is definitely FUN. I give fun toys usually when I need something from my babies to do, like to get into the stroller to go for a walk could be a challenge sometimes - the babies are not always in the mood, especially during winter. So I use Fun toys to distruct them from their tantrums and Fun toys always work 100%. Fun toys mesmerize/hypnotize babies - which is exactly what I need! So, even if the toy is not too Educational - it can be a huge help for parents in different situations! So I recommend this specific toy as a FUN "bribe" for when you want your baby to do something or to behave. Take it away from day-to-day activities and "bribe" your kid for "special situations". Lol :)
PROs:
- My babies LIKE it. Whether adults think it's fun or not - what in the end makes sense is that kids like it or not. :)
- DESIGN. Overall, it's a fun design, light and easy to hold, reminds iPhone 5s, has many fun options/buttons.
- FEATURES. Lights up, plays music, numbers, colors, etc.
CONs:
- No VOLUME button. There has to be a button to lower volume. Maybe at least 2 regimes - low volume and high volume. At this point, the volume is very very high - not for your baby to put the phone next to the year.
- No real OFF button. I prefer and sliding button, like most toys have.Read more ›
