I primarily purchased this to make rigatoni, as I prefer it to spaghetti, but I found that the rigatoni cap is mostly plastic, whereas the spaghetti and fettuccine caps are steel. I can make soft and mushy rigatoni by just using all-purpose flour, and it kind of works, but if I ass semolina flour to increase the glutens, I could not press out rigatoni at all. I feared I would crack the plastic parts of the cap. This may be a good product for someone who makes homemade pasta with just egg and all purpose flour, but I prefer to use a more traditional recipe, so I fear I will have to seek a different solution.

This design made the noodle dough really sticks to the screen and the mold. It took me quite a while to clean up completely from the leftover dough. When the noodle came out, they got stick to each other again. If you put more flour, it would be harder. So it's kinda pointless using this noodle maker.

The only way to use this with homemade pasta dough is to stand over the pot of boiling water and squeeze ridiculously hard with two hands, thus endangering your 12 yr old son who has to stand right there to trim off the pasta when it is long enough. It helps to dunk the pasta coming out into the boiling water up to the metal to make sure the strands don't stick together. High quality and such a cool idea.. But it doesn't work for the purpose for which I bought it :(. Should have returned it but never got around to it. Maybe the kids can use it for squeezing out play-dough hair.

Noodles clumped, could not be separated. Tried flouring the dough and the device with multiple pass-throughs; same result. It also got some kind of blackish machine grease (from the crank screw) on the dough. Returned. It might work better on super-dry dough.
