5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant!
I bought this pillow based on the positive reviews on Amazon, which I want to thank every reviewer that posted. Informative shopping is the way to go. I'm overwhelmingly glad I got it - I love this pillow. That said, I've never tried another preggie pillow, so I don't have anything to compare it to. What works for me could possibly be related to my size, etc...

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant!, April 26, 2010

I bought this pillow based on the positive reviews on Amazon, which I want to thank every reviewer that posted. Informative shopping is the way to go. I'm overwhelmingly glad I got it - I love this pillow. That said, I've never tried another preggie pillow, so I don't have anything to compare it to. What works for me could possibly be related to my size, etc.

I'm about 5'8", small build. I've had achy hips & knees prior to being pregnant and buying a memory foam mattress topper helped remedy that. Being pregnant added new challenges. The pillow supports very well where I need it most-knees, belly, back and breasts. It is soft enough, comfortable enough and still firm enough that you can tilt on your back a bit, but still be mostly on your side as doctors recommend for pregnancy. This pillow keeps me pretty comfortable considering I'm a back sleeper and side sleeping is not natural for me.

Being pregnant, I've found myself going for roomier comfort (bigger bathroom stalls, looser clothes, isle seats, etc). I don't feel the pillow takes up too much room on our queen-sized bed typically shared with a couple of cats. I've tried using the photographic set up like you see here on Amazon & the packaging, but it doesn't suit me. I take up the right side of the bed (if you're looking at it, not in it) and I prefer to lay on my left keeping the shorter side of the pillow by the edge side of the bed for quick maneuvering to the loo in the middle of the night. This way I'm not climbing over that longer side or bonking my poor hubby or kitty in the head with it if I fold it upward. With the shorter side set up on my left, it supports my stomach and breasts better. Not to mention, then the longer side stays along my back really preventing me from rolling onto my back and the "tail end" of the pillow still curves in and supports my knees. Brilliant!

The only drawback to this product - finding additional or different pillow covers. The pillow comes with a simple white cover that's machine washable & dryable. You'll have to order covers from UK sites because this is a UK product. Shipping to the US is pricey. I was lucky enough to talk a nice UK eBay seller into letting me pay int'l shipping for his very affordably priced Dream Genii cover on eBay UK. It took a few weeks, but now I have a back up cover in case something happens to the first one (I get too pooped to wash it). I still feel happy with my purchase and that it deserves 5 stars.

UPDATE --
After using the DG for pregnancy, we now use it as a boppy-type pillow for the baby. What I didn't mention above months ago is that the DG pillow folds into a u-shape and the baby sits inside, supporting baby's body, neck and head. During my recovery, it kept my baby very comfortable next to me or on my lap, helping with feedings or just adoring my little one. My kid loves being it and I can't be happy enough with how helpful it's been during my pregnancy and postpartum recovery. Postpartum, I was on bed rest with weight bearing restrictions, had mobility issues and the worst pain of my life. Products like this are a Godsend. It's a tool that has many uses. And I can't put a price on being able to have my baby near during this amazing, yet stressful time.

UPDATE number 2 --
It's the gift that keeps on giving. Baby now loves doing tummy time and practicing sitting up as well as feeding in the DG.

It's a great idea to have a pillow that supports belly, back, and legs/hips, but this doesn't do it. The major design flaw is that the belly portion of the pillow is the same height as the legs/hips portion, because it's just one long tube.

Pregnant bellies fall toward the bed when mom is lying on her side, so any pillow to go *under* the belly shouldn't be too deep. This pillow is too deep in the belly section, so it doesn't go under the belly to support it.

Conversely, the whole point of supporting legs/hips while lying on the side is to *elevate* the top knee to hip height or slightly higher. This pillow is not deep enough in the legs/hips section, so it doesn't lift the top leg up to a comfortable position.

I guess the back portion is fine, but it also kinda felt claustrophobic having something both front and back. I would feel like I was being attacked by the pillow and wake up to find it flung on the floor. I returned it, and now just use a regular bed pillow (thick, firm down one) between my knees.

2.0 out of 5 stars Disappointed, July 24, 2010
This review is from: dreamgenii Pregnancy Body Support and Feeding Pillow (UPDATED) (Baby Product)
I had been looking for a pillow that would provide support between my legs and keep me from rolling on my back, and I'd hoped this would be the answer. While I did like that it isn't gigantic and take up half the bed, it was too thin to really support my legs (my knees still touch if it slips up between my thighs), and the little pad on the back was too small to keep me from rolling over - I just end up on top of it.

It's a good idea, but ended up being a waste of money for me. If I could have the exact same pillow with two or three times the stuffing, I'd be happy.

I rarely write reviews but this pillow is AMAZING and perfect for those who are looking for a versatile, supportive pregnancy pillow that doesn't take up too much room in bed. The design provides support exactly where you need it (back, belly, and then between the legs) and works great whether you are on your left or right sides (you don't have to flip the pillow over every time you turn over). It's small enough to be portable, which I also appreciate. Overall, I had no idea that getting this would help my sleep so much and keep me so comfortable at night. I wish I'd ordered it sooner. HIGHLY recommended!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Really nice, but not quite perfect, September 4, 2009

I've never had a maternity pillow, but I usually sleep with a couple pillows. However, I've had a lot of back pain and restless legs this pregnancy and I hoped to find the magic bullet with this pillow due to all it's awards. Unfortunately, it's not quite as good as I hoped. That being said, it is much better than my old pillows.

The main thing I don't like about it is that it doesn't provide enough back support--it's either supporting my lower back or upper back, never both. (I'm tall 5'9".) The back pillow just needs to be longer.

The things I really like about it are: it's not gigantic. (Okay so that's half my complaint.) But really, the front pillow is the perfect size! My husband would have hated one of those huge pillows that seem twice as big as a person. Also I love how you don't have to use it for your pillow under your head.

All in all, it works well. I've used it every night since I bought it.

This pillow has saved me from pregnancy discomfort. I started out with the numbness in the hips while sleeping. While I still get occasional numbness, it is very rare. Definitely more comfortable nights than not. It also is great for supporting the belly and back at the same time. I'm dying to roll onto my back, so having a little cushion there to feel like I am without actually doing so is so helpful. This pillow does not take up much room and is the perfect size for me (4'11"). Glad I got this one!

4.0 out of 5 stars comfy pillow, hubby can stay in bed too, January 11, 2010

I bought this pillow about 1 month ago. sore hips started to make sleeping difficult. I really like this pillow. It is not a monster. My husband and I share a queen bed and we still have room. It provides lots of tummy and leg support. You can easily move it around and find what works best for you. The only thing that prevents 5 stars is, I wish the back support was just a little bit longer. Many nights I find using the pillow "backwards" with just the little pillow under my belly feels much better. I can get out of bed very easily in the middle of the night. The pillow travels well. It easily slides back into the plastic zip bag it was shipped in. It is holding its shape so far... I would buy this pillow again!

I saw this product in FitPregnancy and decided to try it and I love it! Unlike a lot of the other pregnancy pillows (like the "Snoogle"), you are still ablt to use your normal pillow with the DreamGenii, which I really like. Having the small cushions on top to help keep you from rolling onto your back are a nice touch. Also, it's actually not that big. A lot of pregnancy pillows are really quite large, but this one fits discreetly behind our other pillow during the day when our bed is made. I'm very pleased with it.

This pillow is great because it provides just the right amount of support without taking up the whole bed. I sleep on it different ways depending on how I am feeling - sometimes I use the back support for my belly and pull the bottom part of the other side up through my legs. I also flip it over when I change sides, which is easy to do. It has completely stopped all of the hip pain I was feeling sleeping on my side. I would definitely recommend this pillow, even for those who are not pregnant but need support!

5.0 out of 5 stars Reclaim pregnancy sleep!, June 17, 2010

This review is from: dreamgenii Pregnancy Body Support and Feeding Pillow (UPDATED) (Baby Product)
I had never had any sleep difficulties until the second trimester of my pregnancy, but as many other women have experienced, I began to have problems getting comfortable at night and having aches and pains in the morning. After thorough research on pregnancy pillows of all shapes and sizes, I decided to buy the Dream Genii, and I am very glad I did! We have a full-size bed in a small bedroom, so I wanted a pillow that wouldn't kick my husband out of bed! I also liked that I would continue to use my regular pillows for my head, since many of the other brands had negative reviews about the head/neck area. The first night I used this pillow, I slept comfortably all night long and did not have the hip & lower back pain I had been dealing with. It was bliss! Since then, it has continued to help me sleep comfortably all night. I love that it is easy to use on either side, and when I turn over in the middle of the night, it stays in one place. It also allows me to still cuddle with my husband without getting in the way. I haven't yet used it as a nursing pillow because my son hasn't arrived yet, but I think it will also work well for that purpose (saving me another $40!).

There are only two small cons:
1. The fabric on the cover does pill, although this hasn't bothered me.
2. The pillow quickly loses its original level of firmness. I have been using mine for about a month, and I can tell a definite difference in its "puffiness." This hasn't affected my sleep, though, and many other bed pillows respond the same way.

I would definitely recommend this pillow!
