The side handle is not recessed, but lays flat, so it works well.

Also, the hinge is very flexible, so the whole thing is only slightly more rigid/suportive than a duffel bag.

Took this suitcase to Walt Disney World, and I'm pleased to say it held up great. If you haven't seen the video the eBags puts out for the EXO 2.0 Hardside Spinner, get thee over to YouTube and check it out. You'll see how much thought they put into the design of this luggage line. It's easy to move, lightweight, and has a polycarbonate shell that's impact resistant, and the top grab handles are recessed so they won't get ripped off in transit. (The side handle is not recessed, but lays flat, so it works well.) The zippers are burst-resistant and it has built-in locks that TSA can open without destroying the case. I'm very pleased with the EXO 2.0 hardside spinner!

Get the EXO 1.0 if you can. Even though this new one is a little bit bigger (by the outside dimensions) the telescoping handle is super flimsy and cheap. I have several eBags and I can't believe I'm writing this about an eBag, but it's true. I was afraid the handle was going to twist all the way around, or break off. I have an EXO 1.0 and compared them side by side. The handle is equivalent to a $29 WalMart spinner. The TSA locks have also been changed. Instead of the zipper pull clicking in directly to the lock, now the pulls have to be criss-crossed at just the right angle to get them to click in. It's not reall hard to do, but it usually takes a couple of minutes to play with it and get it right. eBags says it's more secure. Against who? The old design could allow a potential thief to separate the zipper an inch or two at most. I guess if your luggage gets "inspected", they won't be able to get the bag locked again so you'll know someone rummaged through your stuff when you get your bag and the zippers aren't clicked in. ;)

I purchased 2 of these for long trips based on a positive experience with the version 1.0 of this large spinner bag. We did not use them until 2.5 months after the purchase. Upon use for the first time, an obvious design or manufacturing defect was obvious on one of the bags, as the wheels rubbed against the wheel support structure making using the bag as a spinner impossible. I contacted eBags on return and they responded "We had sent a request to our warranty team to process a replacement for the item "eBags - EXO 2.0 Hardside 24" Spinner - Brushed Graphite"." (direct quote from their Email response). Unfortunately, the day prior to our next trip I receive a new set of wheels... NOT A BAG. I'm pretty good at fixing things so I changed the wheels, which was VERY difficult to do due to the size of the bag. I noted that the wheels were made differently, and had different style numbering than the original ones (hence my comment about a design change). Unfortunately, upon the next use of the second bag, it developed the same problem on our next trip. This time I called eBags and had a HORRIBLE experience when I insisted on a new bag instead of just the wheels (or direction to a place to have the work performed). They would send a mailing label, but I would have to either find or buy a shipping box. Upon my insistence, the service rep stated that they would send a bag, and I could use the same box to mail back the defective one, but she "will mark my account as this will be a ONE time exception to their policy". Poor service response to a defective bag, resolved by standing firm.

Addendum: eBags responded to this review (also posted on their web site very positively, including a note from the bag designer.

LOVE this bag :) My first-ever roller bag. Light so I can pack more into it, and the wheels glide effortlessly. It is all that I could have hoped for

very dissapointed. This luggage had excellent reviews on line. But I am very dissapointed in the quality of case. The wheels, handles are all plastic and I doubt will hold up over time. Compared to my existing luggage with is soft shell by another manufacturer at a lower price, the quality is considrably beter than EXO. Also, the hinge is very flexible, so the whole thing is only slightly more rigid/suportive than a duffel bag.
