Product Description

Stop straining your eyes trying to read a blocky bubble level! This innovative and efficient design centers the bubble within a circle over your hot shoe. You can easily see whether the bubble is centered, and this level takes up much less space than a large acrylic block!

Super easy to install and fits perfectly in the slot.
Julie Correia
The bubble level guides appear to be rubber and flexable enough to snugly hug the hot shoe rails.

Not worth the time to return so I will throw in the trash.

After some caution based on other reviews I broke down and spent a buck. After checking out on a known level surface (see my review of Swanson Tool CCL001 Cross Check Level) I noticed the bubble was a bit off-centered. I found that if you gently pushed down on the bubble insert (in the rubber housing) with it on a flat surface, it snapped into a position that checked level. Next came to getting into my Nikon D5100: It slid into the hot shoe -- kinda tight -- after taking care to get the shoe guides into the slots in the side of the rubber housing. Once in place I rechecked by putting just the camera body on the same surface, and voilà! the bubble was centered.

I had tried larger bubble cubes, but those larger levels, while more accurate, interfered with the pop up flash and my camera bag. Since I don't use a shoe flash very often, this level stays on my camera. It comes in very handy as I shoot nightscapes, often without an easy horizon reference, so this is very, very handy.

This product is a rubbery coated, internally stiff chip topped with a bubble level. As a hot shoe cover alone, it is better than the Nikon supplied product because it actually seals the hot shoe better. With the added convenience of the bubble level, it's a "must have".

I think the fit of this product could be better. I own a Canon EOS 7D and while this fits, it is pretty tight and hard to get on and off. You can use the built-in level for the 7D, but this is handy for a quick check of level when using a tripod if that tripod doesn't have one already.

It is also not quite large enough to cover the hot-shoe fully, and the plastic is just a little too-hard making it difficult to take on and off. Also, because it's so small, you can lose it in your bag or drop it pretty easily when moving to put on a flash.

It's a great bubble for landscapes where the horizon needs to be leveled, but if you want to use it on other planes (y or z) it renders the bubble useless. There are a few options with multiple bubbles...that allow more precision.

I gave it 4 stars because it's a bit of a pain to remove once clipped into the flash housing.

It fits perfectly well on my Canon SX50 HS and surprisingly, it doesn't interfere if I have to use the built-in pop-up flash...it works without taking it off...how convenient could that be!!! Wonderful item and such a great buy!!!

An o.k product and the price was right. Ordered this with some other camera accessories as the cover for my hot shoe was missing. This cover had a metal framework the body of it is a stiff rubber with compass embedded. It was very difficult to secure into the hot shoe without considerable force. When I had to remove it to attach a strobe to the camera, the metal framework remained in the shoe and had to be picked out. I removed the metal and discarded it. Without it the compass fits snugly, but is much easier to remove and replace.

i use a flat bubble level which can sit on the hot shoe if i wanted, but i find that this is so small that i misplace it (even in my pocket among change). i'm glad that most cameras include an electronic level - but my needs are much more intense with panning and dolly time lapses and motion photography/videography, and i need everything completely level. i like the hopkins pocket surface level and use that instead.
