5.0 out of 5 stars Great ear light!
I LOVE my ear light. I am a cross stitcher and like to take my cross stitching with me wherever I go. Finding good lighting for stitching isn't always easy though, so now I just take the ear light with me, and I have great light everywhere. It is so light and comfy you don't even feel it on your ear.

1.0 out of 5 stars Useless for Reading..
Unless you are a person who moves your head back & forth when you read rather than your eyes (a very tiring & bad habit), this light is useless..it projects a small round beam of light--about 6 inches in diameter--so in order to use it to read even a paperback you have to constantly (and I do mean constantly!) move your head to focus the beam on the text you are reading...

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Tool, May 4, 2006
I own a bar & bought one of these for all of my bartenders, manager, and myself. Everyone loves these lights. I have people asking all the time where we got them. It is perfect for folks who have to work in limited lighting, including emcees who may be sitting on the corner of a stage at a podium. It is also great for walking to your car at night. One of my employees lost his, so I'm ordering a few back-ups. No complaints here! And...with the price, they make cool gifts.

5.0 out of 5 stars This is great!, July 11, 2006
I bought an ear light to read in bed without disturbing the wife. Now I carry it with me everwhere as an emergency flashlight. It is small and light weight. It clips on to the ear securely and very comfortably. It easily adjusts. After that, where I look is lighted with no further fiddling with the light. My hands are free, and I don't even think about the light.

It is bright enough to light the path. It illuminates where I am working or reading or seeking something. It does the job with minimum disturbance of the surrounding area.

I can wear it forever comfortably. I've even been known to carry it, turned off, on my ear. However, I haven't yet fallen asleep with it on.

4.0 out of 5 stars Bought for reading. Mostly great. Pros and Cons, October 8, 2010

This review is from: Led Ear Light (Sports)
I read at night and my wife is sensitive to light when she sleeps. Too much and she tries to eat my soul. She almost got it once. eGear to the rescue !

Pros:

Very little light spillage. It will not put light on the ceiling or anywhere else. I cannot stress the importance of this factor enough. It's very directional. It lights up my kindle and only my kindle and does it without glare. I have gone though several other lights and have had my soul almost eaten several times.

The light can be swiveled a great deal. This is important for aiming that directional spotlight.

Cons:
It can be uncomfortable. The hook that goes behind your ear is plastic and not rubberized. Care should be taken when putting it on so it will not pinch you ear. When you get the hang of it you'll be fine.

No power adjustment. This is minor as the light level is just what I'd want it to be.

Cannot be worn on either ear. This thing is designed for your right ear only. It cannot be switched. If your spouse sleeps to your right they *may* see a little point of light from the unit, but my wife hasn't noticed the source yet and I retain my soul.

Overall this is my main reading light.

Light works great. I use it in the evening while my son is watching TV, I can sit and knit without having all the lights on in the room. It slips easily over the ear (and I wear glasses and it fits fine), it's comfortable and puts the light just where I want it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Almost perfect, January 7, 2010
This review is from: Led Ear Light (Sports)
The eGear LED Ear Light is really great. the intensity of the light is amazing. That is also it's only downfall. It is so totally focused that it limits you to keeping your head almost totally still. Not that that is a major flaw but it can cause a problem if you are reading for a long time. The light is so bright that my daughter was shocked when I looked toward her with it on my ear. She said she was blinded (temporarily of course). It has the intensity of a flash. It is great if you are riding in a car or on a train or just in the house and don't want to turn the lights on but want to read in peaceful setting. It is extremely helpful if the outside light isn't on at the house and I am trying to find my keys let alone the lock. I love it!

I like this product and it does work. But, I'm still having a little trouble focusing the light in the specific area. Since I like to read while lying down in bed; sometimes the light while touching the pillow gets moved ever so slightly and the focus is not where I originally put it. But, all in all it is a good idea.

5.0 out of 5 stars Works Great for Reading!, January 27, 2009

I use this light at night to read my kindle. Its not so bright where it disturbs my other half when he's trying to go to sleep. Instead it focuses the light really well where I want. Its easy to adjust and simple to use. Unlike other kindle lights that clip on this light doesn't add any additional weight to your kindle and you can barely feel it in your ear.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome!, June 17, 2011
This review is from: Led Ear Light (Misc.)
I love this thing!

The product information says the light can adjust up and down but it can also move left to right (it's a ball joint). The wrap-around ear piece can clip open and once on your ear, click closed so it's secure, without hurting or chafing. I've gone hiking in the dark with it while doing fieldwork, and it's been exceptional in its ability to light the trail (I'm 5 ft tall and when pointed down from my ear it makes about a 3-foot circle of light). We also visited a site where there was a cave, and my light was the only one that would work (of 3).

The movable light is a nice touch, so I can point it down when hiking and slightly up when writing down data. If I'm trying to scan the area for snakes, I just move my head side to side, and I can see pretty far.

It's also very lightweight, you don't have to worry about it weighing you down or falling off. If you like to pack light, this thing is perfect for you!

It's better than two other flashlights I have (as far as lighting goes) AND is hands-free. I recently lost mine, but I'd had it for over 3 years (and it had been given to me by someone who'd had it awhile), and it was still working fine.
