Brightness is lower than others I have.,

The brightness (luminance) level is lower than other LED devices I have. The casing looks like it would take a beating, so it appears rugged. I don't use them in this manner.

I purchased the light with the idea of leaving the light on 'for years' at the lowest setting in a 'dark' storage room. Even though the light is 'on', once you close the door, you can't find the 'light'. It might glow, but it doesn't produce as much light as I had hoped.

Must have for traveling or camping,

I have owned safe-lights for over a decade. I didn't realize it had the 2 year glow feature until after I bought one. That is the feature that makes this light a must have. I traveled allot prior to my retirement. I also camp every chance I get. I bought the light for its brightness and size. When I discovered it had the always on moon mode I was skeptical. I looked into the light in daylight and could barely discern a dim glow coming from the emitter. When I hit the sack that night I put it on my night stand. It had a faint glow. I woke up a couple of hours later with the expected perfect night vision. I was amazed at the amount of light this thing put out. I could easily navigate around the house with it.
The amount of light it puts out on the high setting is fairly good. It will work as good as mini mag incandescent. I have no use for the strobe function. The only thing I could find it useful for is to annoy someone. I'm sure all the chairborne rambo's out there will tell me how they strobed off a charging grizzly bear or group of gang members with them but I don't buy that. Bottom line: If you travel and stay in unfamiliar places like I did, or camp, the moon mode light on this is worth the price by its self.

A great night light, and versatile as well,

We keep the Safe lights on our nightstands. The Duracell 9V Battery lasts more than two years. Even though it seems
contradictory, the light stays on a low level pilot fashion making it easy to find in the dark of night. Also, with the battery long life they're great for Earthquake or other Safety Kits. The light has low, high and a flashing function. I was skeptical with the first one I bought, but I have several now. For serious flashlights we use rechargeable LED Stingers, great but five times the price of a Safe-Lite and, of course, much brighter. I might mention we've used Safe lights successfully for several years. |
