3.0 out of 5 stars Better Alternative to DELL PC, November 1, 2005
This review is from: eMachines T2824 Desktop PC (2.53 GHz Celeron D 325, 256 MB RAM, 40 GB Hard Drive, DVD/CD-RW Drive) (Personal Computers)
This is a great starter PC or an additional one for your kids. After having owned two Dell PCs that had serious quality problems, I bought this PC and is generally happy with it, considering the low price. This PC is a much better value than any entry-level Dell PC.

Pros:

- This PC has an unmistakable strong resemblance to Gateway PCs (you can see for yourself at CompUSA, where they have both PCs side-by-side), both of which are apparently produced at the same factory in China.

- Quality construction (inside and out) that's more rugged than Dell.

- Easy to set up and get going.

Cons:

- The DVD drive is very noisy and vibrates. (But a more expensive Dell PC had the same problem.)

- The cheap video card and low RAM means children's software would often hang and requires fairly frequent reboot of the PC.

P.S. If you're looking for quality and performance, I'd highly recommend the Sony VAIO VGC-RC110G.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good price, September 18, 2005
This review is from: eMachines T2824 Desktop PC (2.53 GHz Celeron D 325, 256 MB RAM, 40 GB Hard Drive, DVD/CD-RW Drive) (Personal Computers)
Emachine computers work very well and don't really crash often like I thought from an unknown brand like emachine. I have had mine for 4 years and all I just need to do is to add more memory and HD, because computer technology has been getting better in it.

1.0 out of 5 stars Dead on Arrival, December 27, 2005
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: eMachines T2824 Desktop PC (2.53 GHz Celeron D 325, 256 MB RAM, 40 GB Hard Drive, DVD/CD-RW Drive) (Personal Computers)
After building a bunch of PCs I got lazy and decided to buy one for the parents. But unit arrived dead as a rock. Power on light turned on when you hit the on button, but no startup. No fan movement. No monitor signal. NOTHING.

Had to return unit.
