Book Description

July 11, 2008
Can reduction of greenhouse gases lead to FAMINE? Can we do without Nuclear Power? Can land sustain increasing population? Are we all doomed? You will find the answers in 'eMaya.' A computer whiz kid created Bitsy, an Artificial Intelligence program to make a report on global warming. She copied her reasoning and comprehension ability to computer Guhu who managed the search engine and to computer Miki who ran the encyclopedia on the internet. These three intelligent byte-brains brought out the myths and the truths of environment change and climate control by interacting amongst them. eMaya was the netname of Bitsy who summarized the discussions and wrote out emails on various aspects of climate control. Though eMaya is science fiction, the facts about the Earth are real and the conclusions are valid. The book explains difficult concepts of environment and climate change in very simple and lucid way. It answers questions about global warming which you are afraid to ask. eMaya is net-active. She scuttles the plan of using a nuclear bomb to create cloud of dust for global cooling by explaining the concept of temperature equilibrium on Earth. She dramatizes an impending famine situation created with the falling stocks of food to project the importance of carbon dioxide in food production. She will enlighten you about the wonderful design of the earth with its carbon cycle, water cycle and thermal balance. You will be wiser to what is essentially needed to deal with problems of power, food, and global warming. And don't you want to know what the World will be like in 2040?

4.0 out of 5 stars Refreshing to hear both sides, November 11, 2008
This review is from: eMaya: on Climate Control How to Stop Glogal Warming Science Fiction Novel (Paperback)
Global warming is one of those subjects that many people have a very strong opinion on one way or another. It seems that the public is being forced to believe either one extreme or the other -- either it is a complete hoax or it will be the end of all civilization in the next 50 years! The truth, in these types of matters, usually sits somewhere in between.
I was very intrigued to read eMaya after it was recommended to me and after I read the other reviews. It kept my interest and encouraged me to investigate the subject further. I will also recommend this book to my family and friends.

4.0 out of 5 stars Something to really think about!, November 4, 2008
This review is from: eMaya: on Climate Control How to Stop Glogal Warming Science Fiction Novel (Paperback)
It answers questions about global warming which you are afraid to ask. Though eMaya is science fiction, the facts about the Earth are real and the conclusions are valid. It started with Al Gore's book on Global warming and the controversy it stirred up. Jerry was a whiz kid on the computers. He created Bitsy to find out everything about Global Warming for him. She sure did her job didn't she?
Great read!

5.0 out of 5 stars A great way to address a serious issue, October 7, 2008
This review is from: eMaya: on Climate Control How to Stop Glogal Warming Science Fiction Novel (Paperback)
What a great way to address an actual probably problem for this world! Dilip Dahanukar has taken a serious fear among the people of this world and put it into a science fiction novel. The characters in this story address the issues associated with global warming and put them into a manner that, to me, was much more easily understood than a bunch of technical readings I've seen on the subject.

No question about global warming is too small for this piece. This book, in the form of a fiction story, addresses pretty much any question that anyone might have about it. People everywhere are concerned about global warming, some more than others. eMaya helps put things into perspective and enables one to fully understand how what we do can affected global warming, how global warming can potentially affect us, and most importantly what we can do to stop it from happening... all in the form of a fun to read science fiction novel. This book will most definitely be given to my environmentally concerned friends and family.
