Guitar for Dummies is a good place to start learning how to play. It's pretty straight forward in teaching chords and strumming techniques and I really enjoyed that it had the built in recorder, metronome and tuner. The only drawback is that with SOME lessons the teacher assumes you know certain things already. I've never picked up a guitar in my life before buying this and now I can at least play along to simple songs. It was worth it for the price.

I had never touched a guitar in my life but after I finished this program in less then a week I felt comfortable with a guitar in my hands and confident that I could play. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was because it really needed to have some kind of book, like a supplementary guide, so I could have the chords and songs on a hard copy and not just having to print them off the computer. Other than that, it's a fantastic choice for newbs like me!

The only reason I give this 4 stars instead of five, is that the program moves a little too slow at some parts and a bit too fast at others. This is an EXCELLENT program for the beginner guitar player. Easy to use and follow. Lots of helpful extras like animated fretboard and metronome. I tried a few other guitar programs and this one is far above the rest.

So far, I'm impressed by the quality of this software. The only qualification to this is that it is like traditional musical instruction - that is, it starts with the most granular building blocks and works its way upward. For many students, especially younger ones, this might be a bit too slow. There's always a desire to try and jump right into more advanced techniques. The only other thing to mention is that to really use stuff like the built-in tuner, you need some method to get the input into your PC. I took the simple route of just plugging the guitar into the amp, then running the headphone jack on the amp to the line-in on the PC. Honestly, I'm not quite sure what I would have done if I were using an acoustic guitar. The times I just tried to use the PC's built-in microphone, it picked up far too much environmental noise to be of any use. Still, I like this software a lot and unhesitantly recommend it for a complete guitar beginner like me.

I was taking guitar lessons and I wasn't going anywhere until I purchased this program. First of, it has its own set of tools and is interactive I have advance so much that even my daughter was amazed of how much I had progressed and although I have long ways to go before I get more proficient this product has helped me a whole lot. It is easy to follow and you learn at your own pace. I would recommend this product to anyone who wants to learn to play guitar at an affordable price.

Just what the Dr ordered. I played many years ago, and forgot most of what I learned back then (40+ yrs).
This is great for newbies or oldies that need a refresher.

Got this as a Christmas present. When opened, it had the wrong CD. Had to order replacement and return the first one.
