Want to take your playing to the next level? Learn a lot of great licks and chords, and you'll develop your chops.
Guitar Songs version 2.0 teaches the guitar and bass parts for 21 hit songs made famous by guitar legends such as Eric Clapton. This marks the first time these songs are available in an easy-to-learn, multi-track format. The student can now listen to separate tracks from the CD-quality sound recordings: guitar-only, band and vocals with no guitar, bass-only, no-bass, and rhythm-only.
eMedia Guitar Songs version 2.0 makes learning even easier with new variable-speed MIDI tracks, which allow students to slow down the music as needed and gradually speed up as they learn. The music comes to life with a new animated fretboard that shows fingerings synchronized in real-time to the music tracks, displaying even sophisticated techniques like bends, vibrato and slides as they are played. A revised "song looping" feature makes it easy to highlight and repeat complicated sections of any song.
In addition to the animated fretboard, music tracking highlights notation and lyrics as songs play. Songs include vocals supported by full instrumentation, in addition to the option to display guitar music in either standard music notation or guitar tablature.
Guitar Songs comes with several built-in accessories: an automatic tuner (complete with custom tunings as needed), a recorder (for use with the computer's microphone), and a digital metronome. Complete artist biographies and photographs round out the learning experience.
Celebrity performances on Guitar Songs include Peter Frampton playing "Baby, I Love Your Way" and Roger Fisher, former guitarist of Heart, playing a special version of "Magic Man" just for the CD-ROM.
"Guitar Songs' sound quality surpasses other guitar-teaching CD-ROMs because it uses real recordings of guitars and vocals...now you've got no excuse to skip practicing." -Time Digital magazine
"Never mind Riven; now you've got no choice but to turn on your computer." Guitar Magazine
"Guitar Songs is just the product to get you in tune with the instrument." Dallas Morning News

Great Product!,

This CDROM has it all. Music, TAB, play along with either the MIDI version of the song OR the audio version. The audio versions have track muting capability so you can mute the vocal or the Guitar or Bass. The nicest feature is the animated fret board so you if you don't know a chord or aren't that familiar with playing lead in the 7th position: have no fear, this feature cuts right through all of that. This CDROM is formatted for Windows AND Mac: which makes ordering easier too!

It was really cool how this CDROM was put together. Very user friendly & easy to install & run. You can hear the finished product, watch the guitar tabs to see how it is played with adjustable MIDI Music control to speed it up or slow it down. Mute the part you want to play & jam along with the band. Cool stuff! It also includes a brief history of the song & the artist, which is always interesting. If I had had this type of instruction as a teen I probably wouldn't have sucked so bad as a musician. I would have been able to better keep up my interest & enthusiam because CDROMs like this provide continuous access & infinite patience in teaching the more difficult songs & unique styles. I always learned from friends who gave me 5 minutes, then walked. Granted this CD includes a diverse, "something-for-everyone" approach adding classical & country tunes to rock & blues. For that I only gave it four stars & also because there is no clip of the musician actually playing the guitar on the Demo like Voyetra's "Teach Me Rock Guitar". But it must be conceded that Voyetra could only fit four songs on their CD while this one has 21 diverse tunes. eMedia website also provides good software support for these guitar series.

Despite what this site AND the companies own website say, this product is NOT compatible with Windows XP. Their tech support guy is nice, but helpless with an issue that is insoluble. Their customer service just said, "sorry, return it to Amazon and maybe try another one of our titles." No offer to exchange for a working title, as they were worried about throwing off inventory.
