I purchased this kit as additional lighting. Additional to natural lighting and additional to another light set with much brighter bulbs and reflective umbrellas. The lights alone are just not bright enough to light up a whole studio setup. I had some natural light and some overhead lighting on and I set up this kit just to play around when it came in the mail.... even with the room full of light and the light kit my photos were still too dark. I grabbed my speedlight to bounce the flash and it was much better. I think this set will be great for fill light and I'm excited about the mini stand for background lighting.

Now about the actual product. It's not heavy duty stuff. It's an inexpensive set and is made of a thinner metal with alot of plastic pieces. I have had a couple issues. One of the metal 'spokes' of one of the umbrellas was bent when it arrived. I was able to just bend it back into place, but they are a little flimsy. When I was attaching the umbrella to the light I cranked it down tight so it wouldn't slip and when I went to take it out I noticed that I dented in the metal on the umbrella, so be careful, it's easy to over tighten. Also the construction on the inside of the umbrellas is a little shotty. There are strings kind of sticking out.. but again you get what you pay for and I am not at the point yet were I want to spend alot of money for a studio setup, so I think this set will work out nicely for anyone who wants to add to other lighting that they may already have. I will be attaching photos of some of the things I addressed :)

This is ok if you cant afford quality lights. It is cheaply made, but does the job.

For the price I am very happy for the quality of the equipment. The stands are sturdy and withstand a lot of pushing around. I am really impressed with the background stand as it is very Heavy Duty as stated in description. I run a studio mainly with children for clients and it has stood up to all the tests. I have also used it on travel shoots and it is easy to assemble and fits in to a very small tote that is easy to carry. I may want to purchase brighter bulbs but am very satisfied in all other areas.

An inexpensive visual aid is what this product provides. The umbrellas are small and flimsy the wattage of the bulbs is sufficent to create shadows only. Stands are 1st rate.

I gave this product three stars due to the fact that it is made quite well. There's nothing wrong with the actual equipment. The problem is: These lights don't do squat when using them to highlight a subject. Once you get them in place and start shooting, you'll find that it doesn't make a bit of difference whether they are on or off. The bulbs are simply not powerful enough to make a difference. You are better off adding highs/whites in a post editing program. The price was right, but the product just doesn't make the grade. I'm happy to have the umbrellas, but I would have returned this item if it wasn't such a headache packing and shipping it back. My time is worth more than than the headache of returning it.

Umbrella is made from very thin and cheap materials. You sneeze and it will blow a hole outright. One of the umbrellas that I received is ripped. I called amazon to request for a replacement umbrella but was instructed to return the whole order. You know how heavy this order is? I was offered a call tag but I am not at home at daytime so I ended up keeping the whole order and placed a separate order on another umbrella, this time from cowboystudio. Mind you, their umbrella is a lot better. Don't buy this set. The stand is OK but not the umbrella. Two stars for the stand, negative 5 stars for the umbrella.

Thought I was purchasing something useful. Ended up with light stands and no useful light. Had to shoot at f/3.0 at 1/8 at iso 200. I purchased these in a rush for a job I had to do and needed a good product quickly. I could have just used some trouble lights I use for repairs in the crawl space under my house, or perhaps some double a penlights and would have had ten times the light output than these worthless things had!

Unless you like to do time lapse still life photography, don't waste your time with this.

I honestly thought Amazon would police the products on their site to be sure people don't get ripped off.

I'll keep this set up only because my daughter likes the pretty umbrellas. Otherwise I'd just as soon ship it back with a nasty note.

Not sure why this is called a 600 W kit--the bulbs are only 45 W each. The resulting light is so dim that it's not useful for portraits. Might be okay if you were using a tripod and taking pictures of objects.
