The first set that I purchased stopped was great until I the second time I turned the units on and two lights on one of the units quit working.

These lights are amazing for the price, you lose about 800watts because these are 4 lights vs 5 lights. The Stands are sturdy, but not meant to be transported place to place. I suggest you sandbag these stands so you don't have any accidents.

SETUP: Set up was fairly easy, just take your time. I didn't tear anything while putting it together, but if youre careless, im sure you could break something. I spent about 5-10 minutes on each Softbox (complete set up and unboxing) You can set it up alone, but if you have someone around, life is easier with some assistance.

LIGHT BULBS: they are a nice 5500k white, but not very bright. I suggest slowly upgrading to 65 watt 5400k bulbs Square Perfect Professional Quality 65 Watt Compact Fluorescent Full Spectrum Photo Bulb Photography or if you have the money, try out LEDs (1 out of 16 bulbs were broken)

Lighting: As I said before the bulbs are not very bright, but the soft boxes are great quality for a stationary studio. Power switch turns 2 light bulbs on and off at a time.

I submitted a Photo up at the top where the Product Photos are.

If you plan on shooting any type of high definition video and you are looking for something inexpensive to light up your set correctly... well here it is. These 4 boxes do a lot for a 3 camera set... much better than just 3. You can place each of your cameras between 2 lights... light, camera, light, camera, light camera, light. This give you an equal distribution of light in all 3 pictures. These lights are designed more for a small to medium set. If what you're trying to light is larger than 20 x 30.... look elsewhere. A 12 x 15 set will look darn near perfect.

I am NOT a professional photographer/videographer and I'll mostly use them for filming homemade short movies. If you want something PROFESSIONAL, this is NOT the kit for you. If you want to have fun making amateur movies at home with friends (Film Riot, Digital Corridor, Freddie Wong style) and have a semi decent set up, this is it. Those yellow Walmart work lights (I have them and still, I bought this kit) can do the job but they are SO bright and SO hot and SO ugly... This is more "movie-set like". Your friends WILL be impressed, I'm sure, and so will you.

I must admit that some of the reviews had me worried. But I've really been wanting a set of softboxes like these and this kit seemed like a good deal. Not three, like most deals I've seen around, but FOUR of them. Nice. Let's get them!

They came in its black nylon carrying bag, neatly organized and very well packed. However, DO take a picture if you are prone to forget how to repack them again. It can be tricky but not deadly. Stands on the bottom (each in its own box), everything else on top. No big deal. I only assembled one of the lights so I'm hoping they are all in good shape; they appear to be.

The stands come in their own pouches within its box; these pouches are NOT heavy duty so treat them carefully. Stands themselves also must be treated with care but they do their job just fine; they could be just a bit unstable if you lean the assembled light-head too much on one direction and not have one of the legs in the same direction to counter act its weight. It's possible they'll tip over but highly unlikely if caution is exercised when placing them at extreme angles. You'll have no problems.

I only set up one light stand, and 3(!) bulbs burned out after 20 minutes of usage!
What's wrong with them?

I am an independent video producer and bought these lights as a cheap solution for studio filming. Though they aren't very difficult to put together, you would NEVER want to disassemble them for travel. The bulbs would have to go back in original packaging and it would be a total nuisance. If you plan on leaving them setup (like I am) then that is not an issue. They have an acceptable amount of light output but I'm wondering if maybe I should have gone with the 5 bulb models for added brightness. The tripod stands feel really cheap but so far they've done their job.

Basically, if you want a $200 set of lights, you have to accept some facts like cheap construction. I would say I'm happy with my purchase though because I knew what I was getting.

Best bang for your buck. an excellent beginner set up. great for photographers and cinematographers alike. Don't be fooled though, this is a very cheap and low grade lighting kit. the light sockets are brittle, the stands are wobbly and the soft boxes take a special degree of patience and skill to set up. all that being said, its a good starter kit. if your just getting into photography or cinematography i recommend picking this kit up. Take care of it and love it or you'll surly break every stick of equipment in there. use it to find out what you want out of your lights, then save up some money to go buy what you want/need.
