the new 80/160gb classics have a crippled video out function: they MUST be used with *apple brand* output cables/docks to allow the video out funciton to work. i bought this cable and it works perfectly for the audio output, but because of the MPAA, apple doesn't allow the new 80/160gb classics to put out video signal unless the cable or output device has a DRM-compliant apple chip in them. in other words, if you want a cable that will allow you to watch the video from your 80/160gb ipod classic on a scree bigger than the ipod's, you're going to be out another $50. this cable will work only for audio on the new classics.

I asked for this very same cable at Best Buy, and the BB employees told me bluntly "that type of cable doesn't exist".

The cable comes clearly labeled, and it is long enough to allow flexibility and comfortable placing of the iPod.n
It would be really nice if Apple though about cables like this of future iPods (to allow remote control-based operation of the iPod from 10+ feet, while the iPod screen is projected on the TV).

In trying to come up with a killer mix of video and music for a portable entertainment system the iPod is, until this cable came along, I was forced to take a dock and other assorted cables with me. Most hotel rooms I stay in have the video jacks on the front of the TV, so it's a simple matter of plugging in and watching my many hours of reality TV shows on my iPod.

This cable makes life much easier.

Great video and audio quality. The only reason why it didn't receive a 5/5 is because the male 1/8 plug that connects to the headphone jack has a sheath thats a little too wide to fit into my ipod case (my case has been critize for have too small of a headphone jack hole as well). I had to "modify" it a little bit to get it to fit.

Great product, will bring with me on road trips to watch movies. Great for parties and for sharing anything on your ipod.

The only other downside, isn't with the cable but with the software on the ipod itself, i wish that when video wasn't playing it would show me whats on the ipod's screen, instead of a blank screen.

defiantly will work for you but not the highest quality. If you are a casual user will work out great for you but for the people that will use it alot should get something little better.

So this only allowed me to hear music on my tv and nothing more. It said I could see pics and stuff but that was not the case. Sadly I bought.

Came in a timely manner BUT - didn't work for my 5G Ipod. DID work for my 30gb Zune though, just plugged it in, set TV Out and Wallah.

this product does what you might expect for an inexpensive ipod to vid (projector in my case) connection. quality is decent, you need to "play" with the cord to get decent image, but it does work. if you are looking for a high quality vid output, i don't think an ipod is realistic, but if you want quick and simple, this will do it. cannot review audio connection as i did not use.
