This review is from: The eater of darkness (A Putnam Capricorn book)
Meet Charles Dograr, a charming and curious fellow. He is befriended by a powerful, mad genius who puts in his hands the means to strike down anyone he chooses from a distance and by untracable means. How charming! After sketching this idea to a New York critic, who would have difficulty locating his rear end with both hands, Dograr slays all the critics in New York. An appealing idea.
Coates became an art crtitc for the New Yorker and wrote mysterious and wonderful books auch as *An Hour beyond Westerly* and Wisteria Cottage*. This is a book to read, but you might try the public library first rather than buying it for $50. If you like it, then go for it --- at any price.
