4.0 out of 5 stars Escherechochrome, February 20, 2010
= Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: echochrome [Online Game Code - Full Game] (Software Download)
Well I bought this game directly from PSN hoping to be entertained whenever I want to play something for a short period of time or for quite some time if that's the case and I don't want to deal with plans to take over the world, superheroes, cars, guns, fists, swords or spells that can make you disappear, echochrome delivers in terms of being fun, challenging and entertaining, you get 56 levels designed by the producers but you also get over 1000 levels specially chosen (they're supposed to be the best among thousands sent by users), plus you can continue to download new levels as they are uploaded to "cloud"(an option in the game), although is not like you can find hundreds day by day, but you know that you can challenge yourself and others by creating levels of your own in case you feel limited but believe me, what's included is quite enough.

In terms of graphics simplicity hits the spot, and I cannot imagine this game any other way, although you can get up to 1080p, but in general there's nothing more than black & white perspective changing levels, M.C. Escher style, with a dummy looking guy walking and following several simple commands in order to catch shadows that can only be reached by using the 5 laws in which the game is based on.

Overall I find it worthy of being part of any decent game collection, although this title is limited to PS3 only, but if you like puzzle/mind-teaser games I really think you won't come to regret adding this game to your PS3.

I really enjoyed this game. You navigate using the 5 laws of perspective, which adds a fun twist to the gameplay. Also the minimalist graphics work perfectly work for this game. The levels that come with the game are excellent and are plentiful enough to keep you occupied for awhile. You also have the option to play user created levels (some of these are clearly better than others), but the user creation tools are excellent and easy to use. This allows you to make practically any level you can think of and then post it online for others to play. All in all a fun puzzle game that will keep you thinking.

3.0 out of 5 stars A VERY interesting game... but not quite like the Demo, January 30, 2011

I downloaded the demo for this game on PSN. It was a lot of fun. I was an MC Escher fan in my youth and the concept behind the game is certainly Escheresque.

However, the demo takes you through a somewhat linear progression by explaining the rules of play and then taking you through a few levels of increasing difficulty.

I expected this from the full game, but it's not there.

Instead, the full game puts you in a menu where you can choose "Atelier" mode, "Gallery", and a few others, and you have to basically pick a map from a page of thumbnail pictures and then go play it. It doesn't operate as a game... more as a "hey I've got 5 minutes to kill, I'll try playing........ this one!"

It's a neat game, I just feel as though I was mislead by the demo.
