Best PAR30 LED bulb out there,
By
This review is from: ecoBrites Dimmable 7x1w Hi-Performance PAR30 LED light (replacing 60w incandescent/halogen PAR30L). Warm White (2700k) Soft "Flood" Light Output in 120-degree Wide Angle Beam Spread with Soft-Cream Coating Diffuser Built-in
This is a near-perfect PAR30 LED bulb. In applications where the standard diffuser version produces light that is a little too white like above a bathroom mirror where the stark light can be a little shocking, this warmer white bulb is a better choice. EcoBrites bulbs come on almost instantly, produce a lot of light for the input power, are sized perfectly to replace a PAR30 incandescent in almost any situation (including tight fixtures), produce NO buzz or flicker whatsoever. Lots of other LED bulbs have one or more of these problems. And of course they're dimmable, which is a big deal. MUCH better than typical fluorescent alternatives. Can't recommend them highly enough, I have a bunch of these installed in my home. Also EcoBrites are very responsive and friendly, ship quickly, and deal with any issues in your order without fuss.

I have slowly been upgrading all my incandescent lights to LEDs. I have tried several from the big-box home improvement stores and several from Amazon. These are by far my favorites for recessed lighting. These fit perfectly in our fixtures and produce a warm evenly spread light. So far, I have replaced 18 of our old 65w fixtures with ecoBrites models and have not a single problem with any of them. The color almost exactly matches our Phillips Reveal bulbs, although it is slightly cooler ( whiter ) than traditional incandescent lighting. The difference is very small and I have to point out the new lighting to our guests as no one can tell. As others have said, there is a very slight delay when turning on the ecoBrites. The delay is a little annoying if you have other incandescent lights on the same light switch. In my case, I simply changed all the lights to ecoBrites and then they all come on at the same time so you don't even notice it. I have not noticed any buzz or hum with any of these lights. I have to make a special mention about the company's staff and customer support. ecoBrites has on of the best customer support staff I have ever experienced! ecoBrites just started production of the outdoor model and I was eager to replace a few of my outdoor PAR38's. I contacted them and asked if I could get a special model made with the new 2700K color and they had the engineering team create a special batch, test it, and ship it out the door. Awesome customer support! Pros: - dimmable with off the shelf dimmers - color is good enough replacement for incandescent - no buzz or hum - "soft cream" diffuser helps stop the bright LEDs from searing your retina - great customer support Cons: - 2800k is not quite perfect match with regular incandescent lights - very slight delay when turning light on ( 1/2 second ) Bottom line: Buy them; you won't be disappointed.

I bought two of these EcoBright Hi-Brite Dimmable LED lights in July of '11 for use in the 4" recessed lighting fixtures in the kitchen, replacing a couple of 60 watt, super heat-generating halogen light bulbs. My intent was to test the new LEDs for intensity of light, heat generated and the color of light produced. After removing the decorative flange from the recessed light fixture, the LEDs fit exactly in the fixtures with absolutely no room to spare. The resulting effect is a rather pleasant, high-tech appearance with tips of the heat diffuser framing the light filter. My wife most likely differs in that opinion. PROS: -For the same dimmer position, the LEDs put out significantly more light than the 60 watt halogen bulbs. -The heat retained in the base of the EcoBight, after some hours of use at full brightness, is NOWHERE-NEAR that of the halogen lights, the latter being untouchable after use. This clearly demonstrates that, in comparison to the 60 watt halogen bulbs, more of the electricity received at the LED fixture is being used for light production, and much less for heat generation. -The 120 degree light dispersion is far superior to the existing light bulbs, no spotlight effect. -UPDATE: EcoBright customer sevice is great; they are responsive and helpful, and since this review was written EcoBright has upgraded the product with an improved filter for a more soothing quality of light and even better heat management. CONS: -The LEDs produce a rather dreary, institution-like light when used by themselves, even with the attached diffuser/filter. However, when interspersed with the existing halogen lighting, they blend to produce a sufficiently pleasant light. -A minor nit; in mid-November, both of the plastic diffuser/filter disks popped out the the LED light assembly, surprisingly on the same day. I popped them back in, but the fit is not particularly tight, so I will apply some glue later. All that said, I plan to order two more, but will use them in conjunction with existing lights, in order to achieve a soothing blend of light in the kitchen. I sincerely wish that, in the future, more effort will go into making LED lights more pleasant so we can go to all LED lighting, rather than a blend.
