From the supplier: Log-linear equations are used in examining the effects of transitional employment on search duration. The unemployed resort to temporary jobs to alleviate their financial burdens. Data used in the study were from the baseline household survey of the Employment Opportunity Pilot Project. Selectivity terms were used as additional regressors to control for the endogeneity of the decision to take temporary jobs. Results show that job seekers who take temporary jobs will be searching for permanent employment eight months longer than those who do not opt for such transitional measures. The former also have different escape patterns than the latter.
