Ridiculously tiny, lanyard included,

It's very small. You cannot however store a microsd card in it with the end cap on.

Not a bad one after EL-RD-011(012),

Unlike the same manufacturer EL-RD-011 (012) this one doesn't have an indicator led.
Build quality is good, the material (plastic) is shiny, but not feels cheap. The speed is good compared to Transcend multi card reader.

This is the gold standard for microSD card readers as far as I'm concerned. It's easy to use, doesn't hog port space, doesn't require any special software or firmware and is great for on the go data transfer.
The only beef I have with the product is its size; it's no bigger than a Male USB plug and has but a tiny string on it, and could easily sift to the bottom of your periphial drawer (or in my case bottom of a giant trunk full of periphials). Make sure you attach it to something, or put it in it's own pocket, lest it become like a lost Lego piece.

An awesome price. This thing is tiny. Haven't used it much, but it sure is cool. The card slides inside the key so the size does not increase when you slide in the card. You have to have at least a little bit of a finger nail to get it out, but it is not a big deal.

This micro SD card reader is almost too small. It functions well, good transfer speeds, & barely sticks out of the usb port. The only problem is the plastic end piece that you must pull on to remove the reader cracked & came off. If you wanted to leave this product in place (semi-permanent) then it would work fine.

the tiny little thing seems the work well. like other reviewers, I am afraid I'll lose it, and it semes a little bit cheaply made, but I don't have any complaints about it's functionality.

I bought a number of these to give as gifts as well as for myself. They are easy to slip in a pocket or a bag. The loop strings help keep them from getting lost. I use them to transfer data from my micro SD camera cards to my computer. They do a good job. When I tried to take the reader out of my computer, the plastic outer covering came off the reader. I was able to put it back on, but it should be more solidly attached in the first place. I'll try a little superglue next time it comes off.

although it was convenient and required no installation for my mac, i was worried my microsd chip was gonna get stuck inside. but, besides that, it works great!

Wondereful little guy. Handles SDHC, which I have found alot of memory card readers don't, so it is invaluable. Only con is its easy to lose do to its small size

The card reader is extremely small and as such I suppose the manufacturer compromised on the plastic case's durability. The reader works as long as you treat it with the utmost delicacy and remove it from the USB port with extreme care or not at all.
I inserted/removed the reader less than 10 times before the plastic tip where the MicroSD card is inserted came off. I slid the tip back on and the reader still worked. The second time the tip came off, the little "bridge" of plastic that arcs over the MicroSD card completely broke off also. I then accidentally dropped the reader not more than a few feet off the ground and it landed on a semi-hard surface (not soft but not concrete hard either). That seems to have dislodged a solder joint somewhere as the reader no longer works at all. If you buy this reader treat it very gently, remove it by pinching both ends of the reader and pulling carefully (do not use the attached chord to remove it), and do not drop it or you likely will have a useless reader. I wasted nearly ten bucks on this reader. I will not buy another "elago" brand card reader. |
