elago iPhone 3G/3GS Slim Fit Case - Black + Universal Dock Adapter included

We bought the SHIELD slim case for the iPhone and the elago slim case. We prefer the SHIELD, here is why:

Firstly, we wanted a very slim, lightweight, matte finish plastic case (not silicone) to protect our iPhones. These were the top two choices based on our research.

1. Both are very similar, so the differences are very slight, but...

2. The SHIELD wraps around the edges of the iPhone slightly more, providing better protection for the silver bezel.

3. The SHIELD has a cutout for the volume toggle switch (has protection on all 4 sides). The elago protects only 3 sides of the switch - this makes adjusting the volume slightly more difficult, but better protects the switch and prevents accidental pressing.

4. The SHIELD appears to be coated with a slightly thicker paint.

5. The elago is only painted partially on the inside (the side that you don't see), that's fine but you can see the edge of white unpainted area when looking closely. The SHIELD does not suffer from this problem.

6. The only place where I think the elago is better is the accuracy of the cutouts around the switches and connectors. The mold used to make the case I think is slightly better designed than the SHILED - this is an observation from an automotive engineer, not something that most people may care about.

IN conclusion, both are fine cases and have a nice tacky, almost rubberized feel, so it comes down to design - the SHIELD wins this comparison.

This is one of the best case I have ever had for my iPhone. I have bought about three other cases but none compare to the elegance of this case. The other cases have been either very bulky or covers the whole esthetics of the phone. This case keeps my phone looking original and protected at the same time. Another cool thing about this case is the film that comes with the case for the front of the phone. Its really thick and doesn't feel flimsy like other films. OVERALL RATING FOR THIS CASE IS AWSOME!!!

This product keeps with the true nature of the iphone, in the sense that it is elegant and works like a charm without much extra...It has a tactile rubber paint on it and is made out of plastic. I am careful with my phone and this provides just that extra protection from scratches and the rubber texture helps with the iphones proneness to slipping out of hand...

when i first saw this case I wondered how it could protect the iphone because it looks so slim, but it really does protect it! I accidentally dropped my phone off my desk and nothing happened to either the phone or the case, the screen protector goes on pretty easy and the whole case doesn't take away from the beauty of the iphone and doesn't add unnecessary weight

This is a great iPhone cover. I have tried several various covers and this one has been the best yet. With a screen cover and body cover, this performs the essential functions of protection without making the phone heavy or bulky.

I love the iPhone case. In my opinion the majority of phone cases look terrible. This case maintains a very low profile and looks cool. It slides in and out of my pocket with ease. The best part of the case is that the low profile look really does not diminish the cool factor of owning an iPhone. Last week I accidentally dropped my phone down a flight of stairs; without a doubt the case saved my phone. I would highly recommend this case to anyone that owns an iPhone, wants to protect it, and does not want to look ridiculous with some cheap phone cover.

This is, without a doubt, the best case for the iPhone 3g. It looks, fits and feels like it belongs. It's not bulky and protects the back of the phone from unsightly scratches. It is securely attached. It helps your phone slide in and out of your pocket easily (unlike the rubber/silicon cases). Get a film for the front and you'll be fully protected!

The case is made from nice material and fits iPhone 3G very nicely. You have access to all keys most importantly, the phone wont slip from your hands anymore. The screen protector fits nicely on the screen as well.
Overall it is a great product and I recommend it.

i'll admit that i was a little skeptical when i first saw the case. it looked too thin to really protect my iphone, but it snapped on easily, it looks great, and the case has already survived my niece chucking it. on top of that, the case allows access to every feature the 3g offers.

the film that comes with it goes on easily, and somehow makes all those little air pockets that drive me crazy go away. don't really understand it, but it's amazing.

I agree with other reviewers that this is a well made case and fits the phone perfectly. It barely adds any weight or bulk to the slick phone and provides good grip. Note that this case only protects the back of the phone. The smudge free cover for the front was not included in the package as some of the reviewers stated in the past reviews. The package states that this is optional and the Amazon technical review states: Polyurethane coating for soft, warm, and welcoming touch. You may purchase Elago Smudge Free Film.
