I was skeptical when I saw my first crystal nail file, but so many raves from gals using it made me try it. I ordered this one on May 8 of 2008, and as of today, I'm still using the SAME FILE. I do my manicure weekly at home, and so that means I use this file weekly. It's been 10 months and it's still going strong.

It feel different from an emery board or a metallic file, so it's a bit of a "feel adjustment." But soon, you'll grow to love this. I do. I know that I'll be getting another as a back-up (just in case), but my original one doesn't look like it's anywhere near done working.

I clean mine after every use just by wiping down with an alcohol wipe (those that come in a packet and you get a box with a whole bunch rather cheaply). That keeps it nice and clean, removing the nail dust and germies.

Totally recommend this product. Yes, it looks like a lot for ONE file, but it is worth it, and if you look around (maybe beauty shops in your area), you might get an even better price.

A friend has a crystal nail file and let me use it and that made me want to buy one too. I bought the Essie file and I just love it! I am taking extra care of it so as not be drop it, because I know that this type never wears out, but breaks easily. It is way better than any other types of files that I have used: metal or emory board. Gives a very nice feel to the nail filing process.

This nail file is holding up well enough - although I did pick up a drug store one (which I shattered) that did better over the long haul. It seems that the initial corseness wore off quickly, but there has been a consistent performance over the past few months. I don't know if I would purchase them again, but I've generally been very happy with Essie products and this file gets the job done. The case is very handy, and has prevented me from repeating the same shattering experience which my last file was subjected too.
