Product Description
Tok Pisin Stret is an extended and open-ended list of words which have come into use in written Tok Pisin since the Pacific War of 1942-45. It is not a dictionary and has made no attempt to account for every word appearing in the current Tok Pisin writing. Nevertheless it has tried to take into account trends in expanding the vocabulary of Papua New Guinea Tok Pisin. This list contains virtually all the single words in the Mihalic-Jacaranda Dictionary. The exceptions are a couple of archaic words of limited use historically and a few items of local flora and fauna which were never identified precisely. The list also includes a selection of two-word concepts whichcould be conveniently listed under the entryfor the first word of each pair. Also newerloan words and a few established Tok Pisin words which missed inclusion in the Dictionary are included in the list. The English equivalents are provided and are primarily to help the newcomer to identify the Tok Pisin word and to indicate the range of its possible meanings.
