In this stunningly put together book, one of baseball's best hitters takes us behind the scenes and into the parts of a ballplayer's life fans almost never see. Here is Ken Griffey Jr. of the Seattle Mariners playing cards in the locker room before a game; meeting with a Nike representative to discuss designs for the shoes that bear his name; relaxing on the golf course; in the outfield with his father, Ken Griffey, when they became the first father and son to play on the same team; and at home with his wife and daughter. It's fun book, filled with photographs, and the perfect way celebrate the perfect summer game.
Review
It would be surprising if an amazing athlete ... scooped into the majors at the age of 19, did emerge with much wit and grace. What is odd is that Mr. Griffey shows more of both in real life than he does in the book. Apparently he is not getting the ghostwriting he deserves. -- The New York Times Book Review, Laura Mansnerus
