5.0 out of 5 stars The Complete Idiots Guide To Hypnosis, December 30, 1999
By TERRY OLIVERI "tolive1" (Brooklyn, New York) - See all my reviews
This book should have been titled everything you wanted to know about hypnosis and more.

Both professionals and non professionals will find this book helpful.

The material that was presented fully explains each step of the hypnosis process in an orderly and detailed manner. Several chapters build on the information which was provided in previous chapters.

If you have a fear of hypnosis this book will relieve your fears. It offers the reader detailed information on the process, how it works and what to expect.

Dr. Temes provides the reader with a wealth of information on the subject of hypnosis. She shares her years of private practice to educate the readers in the hypnosis process and how through hypnosis she was able to help her clients.

Chapters discuss reasons people choose or should choose to use hypnosis to assist them with health problems, to break habits such as smoking or drinking and to improve their lifestyle. Information is given to enable the readers to hypnotize themselves.

I found this book to be easy to read informative, and in parts funny.

5.0 out of 5 stars A "Must Read" for anyone considering hypnotherapy!, May 17, 2000
By Roy Hunter (Washington State) - See all my reviews
Dr. Temes wrote what I believe to be the best book ever written for the consumer who wishes to consider hypnosis or hypnotherapy as a modality for health care or self-improvement!

Her book is both comprehensive and easy to understand, a very rare combination to be found in any book; and it is filled with valuable information for anyone considering investing in hypnosis or hypnotherapy. While the author has very credible scientific credentials and professional experience, her information is served to the reader in an objective manner, with the goal of helping the consumer to make an informed choice. She empowers the consumer with important information to help those who desire hypnosis or hypnotherapy to choose wisely, and does so without bias either for or against "lay hypnotists" who lack academic credentials.

Whether you are a consumer considering hypnotherapy, a student of hypnosis, OR a practicing professional, this is a "must read" book. In presenting this important information, Roberta Temes has provided a GREAT SERVICE to the general public!

Roy Hunter M.S.

1.0 out of 5 stars Should be called "Guide to Being Hypnotized", January 11, 2001
By A Customer
I was completely misled about this book. It does not tell you at all how to perform hypnosis. It tells you how to BE HYPNOTIZED by someone else--that is, what to expect, what is possible, how to find a hypnotherapist and so on. It is not a self-help book at all; after reading this book you will not be any more able to help yourself than you were before. This is a "how to be helped by someone else" book.

5.0 out of 5 stars a worthwhile book

3.0 out of 5 stars Okay but not enough
You'll need other books in order to actually do much self-hypnosis. This book is long on verbage and low on actual useful techniques.
