"If you're in the mood to laugh out loud, no one writes humor like Suzanne Macpherson." (Rachel Gibson )

Product Description

Her job stinks, her car is one jolting gasp away from the junkyard, her creditors have her on speed dial ... and yet when Allison Jennings isn't scooping ice cream, she's reading tabloid tales about billionaire "Sexy Dexy" Needham III. She knows she'd never bump into him, but somehow she feels she knows him ...

Then her best friend, an outrageous socialite, convinces her to attend a party at the Needham mansion. Allison won't accept handouts, but how can she resist a peek at Dex?

But Dex has had it with the parade of Babses, Midges, and Muffies his family marches before him. And then he meets Allison -- so luscious, so pretty, so ... familiar.

There is something about Allison that rattles him ... something that happened ten years ago. Something he never forgot ...

5.0 out of 5 stars fine contemporary romance, June 30, 2004
In Washington State, single mom Allison Jennings has worked at the same Tasty Freeze for over a decade as she raises her preadolescent son Ethan. Though her ex-husband Rusty is a nice fellow, money is tight. Allison also fantasizes about the tabloid TALK OF THE TOWN jilted "Sexy Dexy" Needham III.

While Ethan goes to MIT on a science project for two weeks, Allison's wealthy pal Bunny takes her to a party at the Needham estate. Allison and Dex meet with neither able to take their hands off the other. However, in daylight she sees the birthmark on his butt and knows he was that one night fling over a decade ago. His mom wants this "gold digger" out of her son's life so she offers a bribe, but when Allison sees a picture of a preadolescent Dex she realizes he, not Rusty, sired her child. Dex wants to be a part of Ethan's and he also knows he loves Allison. Although there is RISKY BUSINESS to her heart and she mistrusts the Needhams, Allison knows she must allow Dex time with Ethan. Dex has his work cut out because he wants both Jennings permanently in his life.

Contemporary romance fans will appreciate this fine tale with a paternity twist. The story line is fun to follow because the key support players (Bunny and Momma Needham) are so aggressive that one expects a submission-wrestling match to break out at any moment. The lead couple is a fine pairing as Allison furbishes Dex a reason to leave his research lab and their precocious prodigy provides his second. Readers will be IN THE MOOD for more off beat tales from Suzanne Macpherson after reading this fine novel.

5.0 out of 5 stars In The Mood, September 11, 2004
By Nora Lee "Twyla" (Washington, Puget Sound, USA) - See all my reviews
Captivating! Humorous! In The Mood tugs at all the emotions that involves the reader in the story. Yes, a read one can not put down until the last word is read. Thank you Suzanne Macpherson for your light hearted humorous talent mixed with the blend of real life examples that are so complex. Dex and Allison true to their character traits upheld the twisting plot to the very end. In the Mood has been one of the best reads I have had in a long time. One I'll remember. Suzanne, your talent shines with the best. Thumbs up! A five star!

4.0 out of 5 stars Funny and Sexy!!! , July 28, 2004
I loved the chemistry between Allison and Dex. As the story developed and Allison and Dex realized the true parentage of her son Ethan, I was pleased to see that Ethan and Allison's ex-husband Rusty easily accepted Dex as Ethan's real father. Tutu and Bunny were equally funny in this book and made it an enjoyable read.
