In this adaptation of Woods's (The Run) 1991 novel, photographer Liz Barwick takes the abuse of her pro football husband until he puts her in the hospital. She then divorces the brute and goes into hiding on a Georgia coast island owned by a mysterious Southern family. There she finds safety, friends, interesting work, natural beauty, and romance. Predictably, however, Liz's past soon looms over her new life. While the plot is conventional and holds few surprises, Woods does gives us an interesting cast of characters.
