Product Description

A bride to save his name . . .

Unless he finds a wealthy wife—and soon—Lord Ian Sutcombe will lose everything. Left deeply in debt by his foolish father and greedy stepmother, his only hope is to marry for money.

Stung by a suitor's cruel betrayal, Hannah Leeds, daughter of a prosperous merchant, wasn't sure she'd ever love again. So when her father arranges her betrothal to the handsome lord, she agrees.

It was no more than a marriage of convenience. They would honor and obey, but never love . . . until a simmering passion exploded into a sizzling affair. Now, with Hannah socializing with members of the ton and another man out to win her heart, Ian will do everything in his power to show Hannah she is his ecstasy, his desire fulfilled . . . and oh so much more than a bride for his convenience.

About the Author

Edith Layton loves to write. She wrote articles and opinion pieces for The New York Times and Newsday, as well as local papers, and freelanced writing publicity before she began writing novels. Publishers Weekly called her "one of romance's most gifted writers." She has received many awards, including a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Romantic Times, and excellent reviews and commendations from Library Journal, Romance Readers Anonymous, and Romance Writers of America. She also writes historical novels under the name Edith Felber. Queen of Shadows, set in fourteenth-century England, is coming out this year. Mother of three grown children, she lives on Long Island with her devoted dog, Miss Daisy, her half feral parakeet, Little Richard, and various nameless pond fish in the fishness protection program.

2.0 out of 5 stars YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME!!!!!!, February 11, 2009
If this book can be published, I am going to start writing Historical Romance myself so I can get published too.
There is really nothing good to say about this book.
It really had no plot and the H & H were just awful.
This book was not at all romantic or enjoyable.
That about says it all regarding this book as far as I am concerned.
When you think about what we PAY for these romance books, we should be given a refund for this one.
Just my honest opinion.

1.0 out of 5 stars Yawn!, January 23, 2009
I was really excited when I read the back of "A Bride for His Convenience" and couldn't wait to sink into this book. Boy, was I disappointed! Like other readers, I ended up skimming through the book after the first couple of chapters, looking to see if it would ever pick up and the answer is NO! There is absolutely no chemistry between Ian and Hannah and several times I would be reading and think, "Wait a minute! Did I miss something?" I was left absolutely clueless when they jumped from one idea to another. Example: at the end of one chapter, Ian is asking himself if he'll ever consider making love to his wife again, but in the very next chapter-with absolutely nothing to give you any clue that his feelings have changed-he's "seducing" his wife. And I say "seducing" because the love scenes were BORING! The conversation about whether or not to make love took up more sentences than the actual act, which consisted of maybe one boring paragraph. I just could not get interested in these characters! What a waste of $5.99!

2.0 out of 5 stars Just didn't ignite, December 18, 2008
This book started off really well and I was captivated by the Ian and the predicament he found himself in. The story took a while to build, but that was alright by me. But things just never got going. There was no electricity between Hannah and Ian - it seemed like everyone was just going through their paces. Ian was patronizing had no passion, and Hannah was very weak. Sorry, but I'd give this book a miss.
